Much of my work these days is created and delivered in digital form. I enjoy adding layer upon layer of digital "paint" to create the psychedelic visions in my head, many of which are inspired by incredible stories it is my privilege to illustrate.
Each piece does start life as pencil drawings, though, and I'm inclined to let my drawing hand drag across the paper. I find it interesting to incorporate accidents of smudges and unplanned textures. It is with graphite-blackened hands that I scan the art, and the technique of adding colour is not that different from how I create actual oil paintings, starting often with monochrome underpainting and adding colours with layer upon layer of thin glazes.
