I GIFed one of my most favorite paintings: "Destination"

As I mentioned in a previous post, I went a little nuts with animating my work by creating GIFs in PhotoShop. Here's one of my most favorite paintings I've done come to life. It's called "Destination" and a part of one of my most personal series, "Roots." (I'm working on a post about that series as a whole, actually!) Here's the original painting:

(It's currently hanging at the Art Council of Southeast Missouri Gallery for the National Juried Show, "Flights of Fantasy" in downtown Cape Girardeau.)

This GIF is much simpler in comparison to some of the others I've tried, but I don't think this one needed much. Since it's so vertically elongated, I haven't been able to share it on any of the other platforms I use and that's super exciting to me.

I would love to know your thoughts on this painting. What does it make you think or feel? Or whatever else you may have to say about it :)

Thanks for looking!

It makes me think of the American dream, or aspirations of a nice home in the suburbs, but maybe hints toward the fact that the lifestyle is more isolating than the dreamer intended, once they achieved it. I'm not speculating as to the true meaning...just something I thought about when I looked at it. It's very beautiful! I love the feel of whimsy as well because of the bright colors.

Thank you! I love that interpretation. One of my most favorite things about painting these surreal pieces is hearing how it makes others think and feel. It allows for self-reflection in a way. For me, isolation is the dream in a modest home :)

Another beautiful GIF! Keep making these they're so good.

Thank you!! :)

Beautiful and super interesting!!! Sooo different.

Those are all adjectives that I would hope to hear. Thanks so much :)

Wonderful painting!

Thank you!! :)
