What a great time this was. A couple years ago, my beautiful and amazing sisters took me out for my birthday. They had decided that we would visit an art studio in Denver. They, of course, know about my love and passion for all things art and had chosen a place called Whimsy Paint and Sip. It is one of those places where you go, have a few drinks, and create a painting. I had never been to such a place and wasn't quite sure what to expect, but I am always up for new adventures.
The theme of the night was "Purple Rain". See, Prince had very recently passed away and considering that we are all huge fans of his amazing work, it just made the night that much more awesome. The drinks were flowing, the jams were kickin', everything was just great.
On one hand, I felt a little out of my element. I am a metal head. I am used to dim lights, loud music, crazy long haired maniacs, mosh pits, and madness. On the other hand, I am no stranger to art studios and quickly found my stride. Before you knew it I was off like a prom dress and painting up a storm. I even took place is a silly dancing competition, which I won by the way. Wasn't really setting the bar to high, but I'm not complaining.
Here is an extra little tidbit of info about this journey. The place was nearly full of women. Very few men were to be found. This kind of activity must be a bit more common with the ladies, but I did not find that to be a problem at all. In fact, I felt like I was actually doing pretty damn well. I was getting a lot of compliments on my work and more than a few of these women were clearly flirting with me. I very quickly found this to be a much better way to meet women, when compared to the regular bar atmosphere. It was a very nice change of pace and something that I will not quickly forget.
So, if you happen to be in the Denver area and are looking for a fun time without the same ol' same, I highly recommend checking out Whimsy Paint and Sip Art Studio. Great place, great atmosphere, great people. If you aren't in the Denver area, I am sure that you could find one of these places close to where you are. These are becoming more and more popular and for very good reason. I suggest checking them out at least once. Especially if you are looking for a change of pace and would like to get away from the old bar scene.
Also, I'd like to thank my sisters for showing me such a good time. This is the kind of things that memories are made out of. I love you all, with all my heart.
