Concept Art for Supra Mid Tops "Stronger Than Ever"

Years ago I came up with a concept for fun. I love the Supra shoes and brand. It's somewhat street and somewhat skater, but kind of edgy. I first discovered the shoes a long time ago because Lil Wayne used to wear them. A friend gave me a pair in high school and they were awesome. I haven't owned a pair in a long time, but one day I felt like creating an ad for them. I started brainstorming, searching for images and came up with the following. You can see some of the process below.

The overall concept is to create an identity with the shoe as being something strong, rugged, powerful and little bit dirty. The solution was to photoshop the shoe with the base of a tank. Something that can tread over any terrain, it has a tough gun metal color and seemed to fit the vibe of the sneakers. It was fun to explore which elements of the tank should be incorporated and not incorporated on the ad image.

To explore this idea further, I cut out paper silhouettes of the tank and of the shoe to see what would happen. I'm not quite sure that concept works as an ad, but it was worth exploring. The process of cut and paste felt like it fit with the rugged street appeal of the brand. I decided to photoshop the ad on a subway entrance to see how it would feel out in the wild. I hope you enjoyed this fun little concept.
