Dreamer Contest: A time to think

in art •  7 years ago  (edited)

Before I chose to be a musician many doubts came across, but the main question was:

Am I really going to starve to death? Is that what artists do?

Not being taken serious, and putting a lot of effort on ther paints, their music, their dance, all for nothing? Suffering because the world that we percive is more sensitive and lonely.

That's what everyone told me, that was also the main reason why I shouldn't choose to be an artist, it was a terrible mistake!

In my country you have to take seriosly the line between science and humanities:

Science, the one that makes useful people, doctor, engineers, and stuff.
Humanities, the one that makes lazy people.

Us and them

There's not only us, we have to be separated, because we're "different"...

I enjoy both, and respect a lot the sciences, but at the end my heart was in the humanities: I found that there was more, that yes, they (the artists) had to bend over backwards to do something meaningful,

but they were happy,

because they were honest with themselves and when someone asked them

Why don't you choose another career where you may earn more money?

They said, I'm ok, this is what I need, what I want, what makes me get up really early in the morning and go to work with my other artist friends,

where I can be understood.

The person that introduce me to steemit is a photographer, he told me that here I could published the content I liked, that this was a site where I could actually earned money doing what I love: writing about my experiences in the world of the arts.

I perceive steemit - and this may sound cheessy - as a chance to transmit your thoughts to other people, and have something really yours, on the internet; to be recognize as an serious artist and no as a lazy person, or a drug addict, or as a hippie...

Is another chance to get really good artist be known, to let them live with what they love, because something was true in all those things people used to tell me.

Arts are understimated.

Someone told me once that cars couldn't be made with poetry. Humanities are infact useless in that kind of way, we certanly can not built bridges, or planes, and for that we should give up.

But before you do, I heard this from a spanish youtuber named Terafobia

I prefer that the humans live 50 years more with the arts than one million years without them.

Maybe on the outside we would have amazing technology, and that's really great (if it is used wisely), but on the inside, we would be lonely, we would be all organs with a heart missing.

I feel full when I see artists in this plattaform, trying to live and not letting the humanities die, doing what they love while having a sustainable life.

Now I can say,

No, I'm ok, this is what I want, here is where I can be understood.

Pues lo que hay en el medio de la falsa separación entre las "artes" y las "ciencias" se encuentra en un sitio peor. Y eso que está en el medio también le toca los peores temas
