Continuous line.

in art •  7 years ago  (edited)

Not a bad analogy for just keep on keeping on, life journey, blah blah or something...

But in this case I am referring to one continuous line drawing.

I tried to force myself to write.

But I've got nothing. So I went with this old drawing exercise instead.

Back to bicscrawling basics.

One rule.

Put the pen to paper and don't pick it up until you are done.

Drawing with one hand and taking photos with the other was a little tricky 😂

My phone was running out of batteries and decided at this stage to preserve it's energy by not letting me use the flash, which explains the difference in exposure and colour. Thanks OPPO!

Well this is the result of my latest writing session.

Hey! If anyone would like to use the concept of -

One continuous line.

To actually write something.
That would be cool...
I've got nothing right now.

Or if you would like to perhaps draw a continuous line drawing?

If you do want to use it as some kind of writing or drawing prompt, be sure to leave a link here for an upvote and resteem.

If I do gather some interest and a post catches my fancy, perhaps there is a spot of steem in it

This right here is interesting! Never heard of doing that, but its cool!

@girlbeforemirror,

How about this: I'll send you a poem with every second stanza deleted. You fill in the missing stanzas. You will have to replicate my meter, rhythm and rhyme scheme.

At the end, we'll both publish the two poems: My original and your adaptation.

You once mentioned that you preferred to write off prompts. Well, this will be a series of prompts.

Quillfire!

Nice to hear from you!
For the man responsible for the continual Coca-Cola loop jingle in my head for... Months!?... Absolutely 😊

@girlbeforemirror,

Does "absolutely" mean you want to do the idea I suggested?

Yes.
Provided there is not a specific timeframe for completion. I can't even anticipate my own commitment.
I still haven't delivered on the roof rack and what was it? I was going to say "_ _ _ _ sack " but I don't think it was quite that uncouth.

@girlbeforemirror,

Are you on Discord? If so, can you DM me (QuillFire #7038 ... I still don't know how to initiate DM's ... I'm 50, I still don't know how to turn on my daughter's cell phone ... I don't have one and am proud of it). We can chat and exchange emails and I'll send you the poem.

I did this exercise with several students I used to tutor in poetry. It is an EXCELLENT way to massively improve your skills very quickly.

BTW, go take a look at @d-pend's latest post (Allocations) ... comments section. A treat.

I am not very good at using discord either. I can only manage to send someone a message if I find them in a server. Luckily, I found you in steemit school, so... Yay, I think I messaged you 😂.
I too am tech challenged. My teenage daughter isn't terribly interested in showing me the way. I recently asked her to teach my instagram. The request was met with suspicion and denied, with a clear vocal yet nonverbal noise.

I just read through again.
Your writing is much more sophisticated than mine. I will need some time and courage.

@girlbeforemirror,

Bad attitude and a poor way to start. When I started writing poetry, I read Shakespeare and the works of the classic great English poets. It never even occurred to me that I would write a single poem to a lesser standard. And I didn't.

If you don't think of yourself as being a great poet then, most assuredly, you won't be one. Channel you Queen Boudica and go slaughter something.

I really dig your drawings - they put my in mind of Charles Bukowski's poetry for some reason. I think because they share his rawness, and have such a blunt honesty about them.

That's a really cool exercise, seems like it would really get the juices flowing or so to speak

Next up is to give a background for each of these faces? Haha

Great drawing. GBM. I don't think I would come up with something cohesive.

A trick I have used for inspiration is kind of similar to this. Get a pencil and paper and put on the some music for about a minute. Let the music conduct your pen on the paper and then turn of the music. Just like you would with clouds in the sky, look for shapes in the paper. Then take what you see to write a story or a poem. Works every time.

I will give it a go. That is pretty much my drawing technique always.

Sometimes when someone feels stuck to write, the right choice is to vent the feeling by drawing. I think it's better. oh, yes, when we're bored, drawing can also be the right choice.

Your drawing is good and reflects the deep meaning of the state of someone who does not always feel okay at all times

If you can sketch so beautifully with your left hand then i am sure you will do wonders with your right hand, just a thought ;)

This is also a wonderful hobby to do such drawings in your leisure time. It is giving me the message "Carry On"

You are wonderful human being and i love your creativity THE GIRL <3

Ha! I forget that the left handedness is still an issue to some.
I'm a proud lefty. My right hand is rather useless, as evidenced by my photographs.
