Imaginings do conjure thoughts of wonderment and dreams,
But in truth it is imagining that tear you from your seams.
To risk a flight of fancy and invest in stargazed longing,
Guarantees you nothing more than reality's sharp slogging.
Before you let your mind a play on things you wish or pray,
Remember what this girl for told upon this very day.
Never think you've found your chance secured a better deal,
As the devil's are the ones who command this roulette wheel.
I don't speak of fork tailed demons or such fatuous ideas,
The wicked one's who'll sup your dreams wear suits and ties and leers.
Walk guarded and with caution and resist a magic thought,
It's just the wicked and a damned with which the evil ones consort.

The last stanza is perfect <3 Hope you have been well xo. I was on a bit of a hiatus. Started to dig through my writing, I go though periods where I won't write poetry for years and then when I find it, it sort of shakes me to see what came out of my head and was promptly forgotten haha. Since you are more comfortable here, how do I find poetry or writing contests, it is pretty overwhelming . Any groups you really like to follow/work with?

Aaahh the power of imagination. You described it so well. This power can sometimes be quite overwhelming and somewhat sabotaging. If I let my mind run wild at times, I come up with things and go to places I never really wanna go.The human mind never ceases to amaze me.
