Modo 3D tutorials: class prep

in art •  8 years ago  (edited)

Hello class of future 3D modellers, I shall be your instructor with Modo. Thanks to the overwhelmingly positive reaction to my POST earlier today, the tutorial series will begin in the next few days. I will tag all of these lessons with #gmuxx-modo for easy search in future. Before you embark on your Modo education there are a few bits of homework I will need you to do: after my first video in which I will show the basics of the interface and navigation, we are going to dive into creating our first simple model, this basic table lamp.

Firstly I need you to download THIS and THIS image - they are reference pictures we will use when we start the modelling process. Just save them to your computer and I will instruct you what to do with them when the time comes.

Next, unless you already have Modo installed visit The Foundry and look it the top right of the page as shown below

You will then be taken to a page where you can register a free account by clicking the Sign Up button

Download your FREE 30 day trial and install it to your machine

That's all for now

See you all in class very soon - don't be late :D

Don't forget that the closing date for my inaugural Digital Artist Showcase competition is the 20th June 2017

I might have to give this a try...

If I can do it anybody can

Not necessarily my dig, but very cool that you're putting this together for our community! I look forward to see what you have to teach. :P

Super cool man

Looks cool. That lamp is amazing. First time I heard about it. :)

Lol, it's very simple

I'll do my best to follow along in Blender ;)

The tools are transferable, just the implementation is different
