"Symbiont II (Alpha Symbiont)" - original painting in acrylics

in art •  7 years ago  (edited)

Last year one of my collectors asked me to paint his portrait. He knows that I'm not into portraits so he suggested to get it painted in "android-style".
This is what came out...

Symbiont II (Alpha Symbiont), 2016
Acrylic on fiberboard
32 x 40 cm / 12.6 x 15.75 in

He not only wanted me to portrait himself but his whole family. In my next post you can see The Little Symbiont, the portrait of his 12 years old daughter:

That's really quite amazing. My mind went to work on a fictional story about it as soon as I laid eyes on it. Well done! Although it was a bit creepy, but with the proper background story it made sense to me and became a worthy piece. Perhaps if you were to write a short paragraph about its fictional beginnings people would not be fearful, but idk. That's my take. Great art, good food for the ever expanding mind. Keep up the good work.

Thank you @xmaas. I'm not so into interpreting and explaining my own work, or writing about it. But it's often interesting to hear what other people see in it.

I understand. I used to be that way myself. I used to create art and people would ask me for an explanation. I told them to give me theirs because if I told them mine it would ruin it or lose the magic that was captured.

beautifully done :)

Extraordinary Artwork of a portrait..I think your collector is the happiest person in the world. Brilliant work.

Thank you!

Amazing work!

Thank you!

Picking my Jaw up off the floor..... Again

Thanks!

Does not it hurt him?

Symbionts don't feel pain! :-)

Promise?

Where are my jaws? They must be somewhere, here in the floor...
You are the f*** master!

Thank you @trenz! :-)

Wonderful work. would love to know the story behind it. reminds me a bit of Giger's work. Is it just the head connected to this machine, totally immobile? is it part of a bigger machine like the sphinx-like guardian of the temple in the original Tron movie?

Thank you! I don't really have any story. It's all up to the observer!

I thought the thumbnail was a photo. It's and awesome painting and that in acrylics. wow.

Thank you!

Very impressive. Are you doing workflow videos of your talent?

I'm very impressed @gric. Double cool...I'm going to comment on the other one now.

Up-Voted for Great Detail and Original Portrait Concept. You're a genius!

Amazing! He has that blank look and emotionless expression, it's very very good!

Thank you Ruth!
