Grace And Elegance In Stainless Steel

Beautiful work. Another artist you might like, Harry Bertoia. He did all kinds of wire art also he made these amazing gongs and chimes. I know his daughter well and had the fortune of meeting his wife a few times. She would ring this gigantic gong that was mounted above his grave every year on his birthday and I was fortunate to be present at one of these ceremonies, very cool.

Howdy sir hhayweaver! Good to see you! Very interesting, is his artwork on a website somewhere? Are you posting these days?

Not posting these day, just curating and commenting.

The sound sculptures are truly amazing. I was fortunate enough to get a tour through his studio to see and hear his art. There was this one "gong" is was like a large rectangular sheet of metal that had been hammered into a wavy shape. You tapped (you didn't his it hard) on it repeatedly, rather quickly with this relatively small mallet. At first you did not hear anything, maybe for the first 10 - 15 seconds, then a very low rumble started to come from the metal sheet that built into an extremely loud roar (like a lion), almost hurt your ears, then the sound was gone in an instant, just like that.
That barn was full of many amazing pieces of art, not just his sound sculptures but quite a few wire sculptures, sheet metal sculptures, and paintings, truly awesome. I hope you enjoy learning about Harry.

Howdy sir hhayweaver! Thanks so much for the links, his work is truly remarkable, never heard of anything like it before!
