Learning Zbrush 3D Modeling - First Creature Design!

This was an attempt at my first creature design using ZBrush. It started, as they all do, with a simple sphere. I then pulled and shaped to get this guy.

This was a speed sculpt, where I only had an hour or so to create it, so obviously there isn't a lot of detail in it. I was also experimenting with new materials for it, and when I discovered this metallic bronze material, I felt it really made the model pop.

It sort of started with a ram-like feeling, but when I added the third horn on the back of the head and stressed the eyebrow and found the bronze material, it really started looking like an ancient Chinese lion/bull/dragon-y sculpture like you find on both sides of the steps into a temple.

Regardless, it was a total blast to make and I can't wait to do more! As I practice, my skills are improving and I'm getting faster/better at manipulating the digital clay. Let's see what I come up with next! :)

You should try doing a human next. I just got done working on a realistic human sculpt. It was really hard but I learned a lot and I was able to drastically improve my abilities in ZBrush and in sculpting.
