Introducing the Giving Bag Movement, a global tribe committed to employing, empowering and elevating women in North Eastern Africa. Sisters by birth, business partners by choice. Together we are building Gravity & Grace, a socially conscious brand that helps to support artisans creating beautifully handcrafted products in developing countries. Together we can change the way we combat poverty. These craftswomen lack the ability to connect with a global audience that will pay a fair market price for their goods. This is where the Gravity & Grace tribe steps in, providing each artisan with the opportunity to access a secure financial institution, learn how to purposefully invest in themselves and their business, gain financial sustainability for their families, and ultimately improve their own local economy. We will be traveling to Kenya this April to continue building our working relationships along side these incredible women. We want to deepen our bonds so that we can better share their stories. This opportunity grants us the ability to hand select our growing product range.
Risks and challenges
No matter how well we plan and prepare, we recognize that starting a business with a global audience is going to be a gamble. There is a direct relationship between risk and reward: the greater the potential upside, the greater the risks involved. Everyone jokes that all entrepreneurs say they’re going to change the world. If we are able to build something successful, it will be a triumphant feeling. We have a vision which we hope will gather momentum with the generosity and grace of our friends and family. Ultimately we aim to be able to celebrate and say “We did this together.”
