An artist’s list of some of the most influential and inspiring painters and their work.
Lauretta by Jules Joseph Lefebvre
Greetings Everyone!,
In this post I thought it would be a great idea to share some of the most deeply affecting and inspiring work of other painters I’ve came across that has aided me personally in my own development.
I simply could go on and on about how they've been influential to me. In some ways purely of their craft. Some because of form. And some simply because they know how to tell a great story.
So here we go!
(The Canary by William McGregor Paxton)
I just LOVE how Paxton can use color to aid in composition and design. His edge work is also phenomonal!
(Girl Sweeping' by William McGregor Paxton)
(La Douleur by Emile Friant)
Nobody can paint flesh like Bouguereau! Plus, his work ethic was beyond human!
(Nymphs and Satyr, by William-Adolphe Bouguereau)
(Portrait of the painter Ivan Shishkin, by Ivan Kramskoy)
(Portrait of Ivan Moiseev by Ivan Kramskoy)
Damn this guy could paint some trees! Russian work never ceases to amaze me.
(In the Wild North by Ivan Shishkin)
(Oak by Ivan Shishkin)
(Portrait done by Yuqi Wang)
(Percival with the Grail Cup by Arthur Hacker)
In my humble opinion, Charles Weed is one of the best painters alive today!
(Portrait of a Girl with a Dove by Charles Weed)
(Girl in the Evening by Charles Weed)
(IL Canto Della Vergine by Roberto Ferri)
Ribera is definitely one of my favorites! I think this guy was an absolute genius!! I know you can't tell by an image online, but his brushwork was sooo thick! He also use to work VERY large.
(Saint Simon by Jusepe de Ribera)
(Louise-Antoinette Feuardent by Jean-François Millet)
(Job by Leon Bonnat)
There are so many other artists I could express my admiration for, but I suppose now is a good place to stop ;)
Please feel free to let me know what you think?
