DMT: The Spirit Molecule! UV-Reactive ARTWORK by @jangaladesigns

I have been told by many that the most intense experience one can have is an encounter with DMT (Dimethyltryptamine.) DMT is a powerful, psychedelic substance that occurs naturally in a myriad of plants of animals. It is even naturally produced within our own bodies and is apparently released in its entirety by the pineal gland at the time of our death, causing an intense "Out of body/heaven experience."

I have very little personal knowledge or experience with this compound, but in my research I have discovered that numerous indigenous tribes, living in and around the Amazon basin, have for millennia been brewing a "tea" called Ayahuasca This medicinal beverage contains a potent mix of DMT (found in a type of vine) and MAOI (found it a certain leaf or tree bark.)

This is an interesting and nearly miraculous discovery on the part of the natives because when DMT by itself is ingested, it is immediately metabolized by the body hence forfeiting the desired effects. If one wishes to ingest DMT and have it enter the bloodstream intact, an MAOI (MonoAmine Oxidase Inhibitor) is needed to halt the bodies natural metabolic processes. What I find absolutely fascinating about this ancient concoction, is that these people somehow found both of these unrelated plants in nature and decided to pair them together. The odds of this happening are staggering when you think about it. Out of hundreds of thousands of plant species, these two soulmates found each other!

So that leads me to todays presentation, which features a custom n,nDimethylTryptamine Molecule! The client that requested this piece had had a very transformative experience with Ayahuasca and an wishes to immortalize and commemorate his experience with it in the form of a custom crown. As you just read in the paragraph prior to this one, research was necessary and the full scope and understanding of the implications of what this compound is was necessary to even begin to attempt to create and art piece that recreates the experience. In fairness though, since I'v never personally tried ayahuasca, I can't really say if I depicted the state of mind one enters into in an accurate portrayal. Alas, I did my best and here is the fruit of my labor! I hope you enjoy it!
