BEST PRINTS I EVER DONE!

I rarely do prints anymore. I focus on creating originals. And because I like to create quality things, it takes time to do quality prints. I'd rather spend that time honing my skills at painting.

Mass printing also devaluates the art. That's just my opinion and many people do not agree with me. They think that print is better than nothing and 100,000 of them gives more people the chance to have something like an original. I do not agree with that.

This being said, I have a show on Friday (day minus 4, things are getting serious !) and I like to have few prints ready for my aficionados. I feel that I am tremendously blessed to have people in my life who have followed my artist path for years and always express their love for my art online or by coming to my shows. The latter being my favorite expression of support.

For those people , I'd go as far as do a series of limited edition prints. I get it, not everyone has $10k kicking around to buy a large paintings. And large are always the ones which people love the most. So I did a few prints. And as if Universe was giving me a green light to do it, I found a set of very nice metal frames with glass.

Here is what I made of them. It's not easy to do the framing and printing and setting right. It's another skill to learn, but it was worth is.

Result? 5 beautiful prints ready to hang!

had to paint the sides of the back board black in case the print moved a tiny bit so it does not expose the cardboard color

Final result! I sent the picture of it to my buddy who I know to love the original skull painting and he bought the print immediately.

of course I did not document all the steps, I had hands full of work to do so. For example I had to climb to the roof and spray the frame with a fresh coat of black paint to make it look great. Roof is the best place to do that, nobody is getting intoxicated :)

Other prints that I did.

The humming birds one is the largest one: over 44 inches tall!
Glass of this size is super tricky to manipulate, especially with a metal frame, when lots of grinding is going on.

Also any dirt shows so clearly yet is so hard to see before the print is in place. I had to dismantle one frame 2 times and clean it inside again before it came out perfect, was driving me nuts! :)a

But the result was worth it. I already had someone in France contact me wanting me to buy them all (saw it on facebook), but these were created for my people who come to my shows. If they don't buy, then they will be for broader public sale.

Someone threw out this vintage frame, so I have it bit of loving care and put my favorite lion painting in it. That's the smallest one of them all and I will donate it to the charity raffle at my show!

I hope you enjoyed the prints and the process!

Much Love to all!

Peace,

Jan

They are all amazing! Your time and effort are worth!

My son would definitely love the skull painting.
I love all of them, but the paintings of nature are my favorite and the wild animals.
Good luck with getting everything done in those 4 days, and wish you all the best
