Art of Hong Kong
Hong Kong is stunning. There's something about it that's just unique and different from mainland China that makes it such a beautiful experience. I walked almost 200,000 steps during my 5 days in Hong Kong and I visited a lot of absolutely breath taking tourist attractions. The tourist attractions were really amazing experiences and I'd recommend them to everyone, but there was truly something uniquely gorgeous to the city itself that just can't be easily described.
This picture was the face of a restaurant just randomly on the street. The vibrant colors, cats and different clothing really drew my attention. It was moments like this discovery and the delicious street foods that fueled my 200,000 step walk around Hong Kong.
Maybe it was because I didn't grow up in big cities but I found the street art and design to make of the public displays memorizing. They gave each and every street and area of the city such a personalized and awesome feeling. It felt like I was playing pokemon go but without the pokemon, just taking long walks for food and discovering all the different footprints that the people of Hong Kong have left behind.
Wall Arts
Down one of the lone, almost thuggist like alleys in Hong Kong, there was this awesome graffiti on the side of the wall. I have no idea what it means but I just thought it was just a nice decoration to an otherwise dirty and dangerous looking alley.
This is the front of a store that hasn't open yet. I'm not sure if I was outside too early in the morning or if they were on vacation but I thought the layout, design and colors of this were beautiful and really drew your eyes to it.
These next 3 wallarts were on the side of a little school we came across while randomly wondering the streets. I really loved the cartoons and thought they were quite amusing as they each had something specific too them that added a bit of humor. I could almost see myself part of the student classes that made up each of these wall arts.
Found near the Temple Market Street, the combination of this wall art and taxi made for such a beautiful shot. I remember stopping my friends while I ran into the street to take a picture of this specific scene.
The Other Arts of Hong Kong
Wall arts weren't the only thing that made the normal areas of Hong Kong so spectacular. There was a lot of random buildings, staircases and even little stalls that had their own personal style that enhanced the surrounding area so well. This following picture is some of the staircases I found near a local park next to the Chungking Mansions.
Unfortunately this picture doesn't do the building justice. In person it was such a high building with a very pretty glossy pink color. The bottom of the building complimented it very well as well with a variety of colors from the various signs hanging on the building.
It was quite a surprise to see one of these in Hong Kong as I'v never seen them in the mainland.
These statues were near the art and space museums that you can find near Chungking mansions. It took me a long time to take a picture of them like this because people were constantly jumping in between the statues to pose with them.
I really like this display because they managed to turn something boring like a glasses display into something cool with the addition of a single eye popping poster.
Even the trash in Hong Kong is worth a photo!
This picture has a bit of a funny story because I was in a hurry to find a bathroom but despite my close to bursting bladder I had to stop and take a picture of this cool street stall art before continuing my search.
Hong Kong really does design well. I personally thought this store front was really cool and worth a mention here.
You are right, the city is so vibrant and beautiful. It has it's own version of art everywhere.
