I Did A Thing! New Animation :D

in art •  6 years ago

It had been years since I've created an animated music video, so I was super stoked when @DarrenClaxton asked me to animate a music video for his song Thorny Waves!

I came up with the story using the album art which was a sketch of the man and woman sitting on the mountain top, drawn by the talented Mrs C - aka TITCH & BABS. You can see it in Darren's post here https://steemit.com/onelovedtube/@darrenclaxton/41sbfjhx

You can also listen to Thorny Waves on Choon https://choon.co/tracks/0xs8gwwx3yy/thorny-waves/

Hope you enjoy! Share the vid if you like it and subscribe to Darren's youtube!

Mate! This is amazing and everyone who's SEN it agrees! You're a very talented man and I'm really grateful that you done this for my song!

I'm glad everyone is enjoying it. I'm glad I did it! It has seriously been almost ten years since my last animation. Thanks for helping rekindle my love for animating. It really helped that you wrote such a great song to work with and it was great having such a cute sketch to build from!

Like you story that you beautifully presented in your animation, it seems like it is an easy thing to create an animation just do few sketches and put them together, but we forget about the story behind. You idea of a ship on its way and then the window that let us to have a sneak inside and opening a complete new scene of being under deck, the person who is playing guitar and thinking about his beloved. That is great. When I saw an octopus, I thought they will fight but everything was sorted peacefully, that is also something I liked. Only I wanted to mention, when watching the rocking waves, I suffer from motion sickness and your waves made me experience my motion sickness while watching. I found it really bizarre, as never have thought that it will do that :)

Thank you for visiting and watching the video :)
I'm sorry it caused motion sickness! I'm still learning how to animate properly.
and yes! the story took me longer to figure out than the animation itself. Once I had the story board the way I wanted it, the rest came quickly. :)

Dear Artzonian, thanks for using the #ArtzOne hashtag. Your work is valuable to the @ArtzOne community. Quote of the week: Art, freedom and creativity will change society faster than politics. -Victor Pinchuk

Woooow Your animation is incrible .. and super original looks great with the audio, what great creativity you had to create all that history, what great creativity you had to create all that history.

Doing it with colors would be more complicated? You did before?

Your friend should be happy with the great work you did for the video of his song that by the way is also very cool.

A big hug @junkfeathers

Thank You! big hug to you!
Doing it with color would have taken longer, but the original idea came from a sketch drawing Darren's wife drew for the song's album art. I wanted to match that. :)
This was my first digital animation using the program Krita. The animations I have done in the past were stop motion. A lot of pictures of drawings. Here is my very first animation

Wow it is seen that it was a very complicated job, surely there were many captures ..

To be your first job it looks super great I love it as much as the one you did now ..
How long will this take you?

And excuse my bad English, it's not my language :(

No worries, your English is good! Much better than my Spanish. Is Spanish your language?
Yes, there were 5,750 frames of animations. You can see I repeated some scenes, so I didn't have to draw each one :)
I'm guessing it took around 60 hours. I spent a month on it, working on it when I could. It was fun.

Hey! I love your Inktober art!

If Spanish is my language: D

You repeated the most important one so it was a great idea ..

It was quite a while, I suppose the camera was in the same position during all that time, I guess you used some kind of support? I am so curious :)

Thank you very much for stopping by my blog, the Inktober was a very complicated job but thanks to my determination I finished it, it was incredible thanks

For Beauty Song (the stop motion) all I had was a flip phone and Windows movie maker at the time. It was very hard to rig a device to hold the phone. You can see i wasn't very successful keeping the camera still lol. Also, this video we created as a band. There were six of us and I made everyone draw something for the video. That's why there are so many different art styles. It was a lot of fun.
Good job finishing Inktober! I started but I realized I needed to work on Thorny Waves instead. Next year I hope to draw everyday of inktober. :)

Also,I hope to see more videos of you drawing, I love watching people draw ;)

Wow I loved that everyone participated in the video .. a couple of months ago I tried to make a support to record while I was drawing and it was a challenge, after that I decided not to do one hahaha again, because until the edition I was very complicated , but I see that you are a lot better than me is that sense hahahaha

If everything goes well I will be participating next year, I hope you try and see your work;)

Thank you, but my drawings will not be as good as yours! I am more of a musician than an artist. I guess I just need to practice more :)
Yes, the camera stand is the hardest part. I hope to experiment using Krita to do an animation with real world drawings and cut-outs that I scan with my scanner and turn into digital.

That is a lovely short story in a video. It is so cute! And the song is lovely too. I like the tune and the mellow beat plus its simplicity with just the guitar strumming.

"We talked about hard times and wonder why we change."

It must have been an intent talk on top of the mountain. I was expecting at least a hug if not a kiss on top amazing top of the world. But no. Suspense, yeah!

I too wonder why people change.

Thank you so much! Yes, @DarrenClaxton is an excellent songwriter! I wanted to do the animation because I loved the song so much.
And who knows, maybe there is more to the story waiting to unfold ;)

maybe there is more to the story waiting to unfold

I suppose that will be the continuation of the love story on the mountain top. I am anticipating "happy ever after" but artists like you two always have your creativity to twist the plot and make things more exciting. 😊

That was really cool!

Thank you for stopping by and having a look!

I liked the animation video. Its simplicity made it look very good, I love that it was in a marine environment, I imagine that to create this animation had to work for many days to get this great result.

Cool! I'm glad you liked it! I did have to work many days, it took a little over a month to make. Next time I'll be faster because this was my first time using the program Krita, so I had to watch a lot of tutorials :D

yay, great song and great collab, bet it was right fun... I'm trying to get some animation done, but it's more traditional silhouette thing, now it's on hold cos I need to actually draw the reatures... Darren, talented skilled songwriter as always, and thislooked like a fun collab to be done

Thank you! Yes, super fun! Though it did take me over a month. I can't wait to see your animation! Before this video I only had experience with stop motion animation. This is my first digital attempt. :)
and yes, Darren's song is excellent and he's just a great guy to work with. :)

I did some short animations when younger, entirely traditional, now I was intending to do something more crafty but now with krita I feel like I want to try to make a lyrics video... still it's on hold... I know what you mean, for Haunted, and it's traditional video I took one month of editing, and this requires for me to sit down and focus.
Loved the result, congrats!

Woooow the princess on top of the mountain!! Hahah and friendly Lochness :D

Maan so no kiss?? I was ttotally waiting for those two to kiss each other and it never came :/ Where's the happyend hahaha :D

Btw I have to say that @DarrenClaxton has done an amazing job on the music! I really enjoyed it, the calm one for evening work on the computer...ideal for me :)

Peace and thanks for sharing guys!

Haha, maybe there is more to the story?? Who knows? :D
Thank you for stopping by to check it out!

I love this :) it made me smile, which does not happen a lot these days <3

I'm glad it did :)
also, I want to take this time to say how much I love the whistling part on so cool. I mean, everything you do is great, but I have been trying to reproduce the whistle melody and, uh, I need a l o t more practice. Especially, on that high note :/

:)

brilliant work both of you , fantastic song and animation :)

Thank you!! now it's time to get back to recording my own music :D

which we all look forward to :)

Just lovely! It reminds me to purity of a child's imagination.

Great! Thanks for stopping by to watch and listen!
