When people ask me what my job is, I tell them my job is to party and have fun.

In 2016, I was asked by my first crush’s mom a favor. She called to ask if I could help her out with social media and posting for her new business. She said she’d pay me as well. I immediately said yes after going over my contract and pay. I was officially the administrative assistant to Disegno Studio.

I spent the next few weeks refreshing myself on art vocabulary terms and studying the work of my first exhibit; perception.

Not only did I studying the work above, I studied the individual artists who created the work. I made tags for each piece, and I helped design the studio placement for each piece. I even modeled the perception shirts we made out for each person involved.

Not only did I meet a bunch of new people, I reunited with a bunch of old! I’ve known my boss since I was two years old, and I finally got to see her family again at the event! I even got to meet my favorite artist of all time (he eventually adopted me as his own daughter at work), Taft McWhorter.

I actually grew up with his youngest son as my classmate and it made me really happy to work with him.

Natalie, my lovely boss, and I had a successful first exhibit and we are still going strong after two years!

I will never forget my first exhibit at my first job. It has brought so many wonderful people and opportunities my way.
