Hi-res photos of various people and places in the Caribbean Islands. My aunt and uncle lived on St. John with my cousins for several years. As always, I brought my camera and captured some nice images for your screen-saver type of enjoyment.
Snake Charmer
We met this Rastaman deep in the rain forest of St. Lucia. We were traveling between towns, many miles from civilization when we stopped to chat with this interesting fellow who lived this far out and had customized a pretty rough tree house for himself to live in. We gave him some cash for the photo, but it didn't look like there was much he planned to do with it.

Soufria, a Fishing Village on St. Lucia
The people were friendly, the food was good, the fishing looked even better. Volcanoes have somehow created the twin peaks above the village. The Rastas we met near the volcano stripped down fully nude to jump into the sulfuric, volcanic springs with no shame at all. We did not join them but they claimed it felt great on their arthritis.

Once you have seen it, you will never forget. It feels like walking the very edge of the earth.

Friday Night in San Juan, Puerto Rico
Some sort of outdoor beach party going on until all hours in San Juan Puerto Rico. This was a tough shot taken from a big boat on the water. Judging from the length of the lights traveling around on the roads I would say this is a 10 second time lapse exposure. Everything is a bit soft as the boat gently moves in the water below.

The Tip Top of Antigua
After a day of scouting photo locations, we grabbed some cold Wadadli, the locally brewed beer of Antigua. Yep a locally brewed beer, oh I know I could live there quite happily.

St. John
This one island carries many of the world's most lush and exotic beaches. These beaches are pretty hard to get to so they tend to be rather open. Cover after beautiful cove, the entire place is like a dream.

Dominican Republic
The Altos de Chavón depicted here is an art colony that sits hundreds of feet above the Chavón river. It can be a long journey and quite a challenge to get to, but there is nothing quite like it.

What kind of snake does the Snake Charmer have around his neck? It certainly looks like it could be poisonous.

That is a great question. I had to do some snake research the other day for a snake I found in my yard. Perhaps I will get my Google Foo going again tonight and see if I can identify this one.

OK I scared the heck out of myself trying to look this up. I have no idea, the data Google is offering on the subject is pretty limited and I have not seen this snake listed anywhere yet. There are some crazy poisonous snakes on St Lucia, I have seen the shock photos... I cannot un-see this either! lol If anyone has any ideas, let us know!
