This winter when we were visiting Prague I saw an amazing "Head in motions" in one Prague window.
I was excited to see this installation.
This head really made me frozen and for about 15 minutes I was standing and watching this motion.
This piece of Art is created by Miroslav Trejtnar.
Frankly speaking I have never heard his name before this December. I began to find something about him.
As it turned out Miroslav Trejtnar is a famous Czech master puppeteer and teacher of puppetry. If you were in Czechia you know that in this country you can find very unusual puppets and wooden toys.
Trejtnar has a long connection with puppetry. He had interesting and full of experience background.
The Arts and Crafts High School in Prague, the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, Institut UNIMA in Charleville-Mézières, France, the Bread and Puppet Theatre, USA. As you see this man studied a lot and studied hard. An not only in his native country but even over The Atlantic Ocean.
Great experience and skills let Trejtnar to found the KID Company which is devoted to designing and producing traditional Czech wooden puppets, toys and sculptures.
Nowaday Miroslav Trejtnar not just a woodcarver, he is the master! He is the artist with his own unique style and a visionary.
Some of Trejtnar's paintings:
Some of Trejtnar's sculptures:
"Angel" (this sculpture is in motion)
"In Line"
Some of Trejtnar's wooden toys:
Trejtnar's puppets:
"Kafka" puppet
In my opinion, Trejtnar's work are modern but they keep Czech traditions and they have Czech soul.
