The Artist's Way, Week One. The Beggining.

What is The Artist Way? 🎨

It is a book that takes you on a twelve week course of recovery through a spiritual approach to unblocking your creativity. It has you do three things every week.

The Morning Pages. 📒

Everyday when you wake up. Three pages of free streaming awaking thought, to get out of your system and not to be read.

The Artist Date. 💖

A solo date once a week with ourselves, for the deration of the course, to encourage creativity.

Tasks. 🌟

Each week has various tasks to finish that explores are wounded selves as well and strengthens our sense of Faith in the world and ourselves. By dealing with the parts of ourselves that we don't want to look at, the very things that helped create those blocks within us we can open ourselves up to be creative. We are all creative, this is what being human truly is.

In attempt to finish the course (I just did the first week on previous attempt) I have upgraded my approach two ways.

ONE :Told all of you about it to create public accountability.

TWO : Created a calendar to help me do a little each day by braking up this weeks Tasks and The Artist Date so that each morning I can pick a square and accomplish it that day. I didn't add days or numbers on the squares so I didn't feel tied down or chained to a rigid schedule. I have a hard time with "in stone" schedules, and days planed weeks ahead of time. I think this Soft Schedule is a good approach.

If anyone would find this calendar helpful while doing The Artist's Way, feel free to use it 😊

Why am I doing The Artist's Way? 🎨

I wish to fall in love 💗 with the process if creating again, to feel the raw joy of making art just to be free. It stop being so tense about the idea of drawing. To feel confident enough to share what I create. To expand my world 🌎 as big as I can make it. To create things I didn't know I was capable of doing.

This is day one in my journey, following the course in this book. Thank you for being my witness. 🌄

The Artist way ^^

hahaha :))

Hahaha! Thanks for reading my blog and the smile :)

I guess we are both on some kind of journey :)

It is a great shift when we make our life journey an intentional one :) Thanks for always leaving wonderful replies and interacting on my journey with me Adrian. Hope you are having a great day.

Just kidding! Just how I feel sometimes. Seriously though, I'm going to hunt this book down. Hopefully I can find more creative outlets that won't cost an arm and leg, or cause the family to want to stamp it out of existence.

The course is free other than the book, mine was a $1 thrift store find. I feel like it is scary thinking about being creative when it has been stomped out of you your whole life by others (especially family). It was the opposite for me. The narrative was for me "if you are not being an artist you are wasting your life. If I was you I would do it more" I moved out at 16 then was put down when I wasn't creating because learning to take care of myself then pay bills. Then I was a tattooist, a bad profession for a super sheltered naive little girl. Art became an enemy. I miss the raw love of creating something beautiful because it feels good. Your writing is really good and very creative. I hope to see some picture art from you someday :)From what I have seen on your blog you seem to be comprised of creative flow.

PS the picture in your comments made me laugh.

Yes it is really hard being in a restricted environment. It was very refreshing to see photos of Lisbon where practically every wall is a canvas. The art is shared by the community, and not hoarded by individuals.

Behind this 100% go ren go! Looking forward to updates (if you wish to share them here on steemit).

Love that self- hacked schedule you made up, between tis course and a 30 days of yoga, I think you're setting yourself up for a super bad ass January <3

Pumped for you!

Thank you so much my wonderful soul sister! I am trying to expand myself this winter. I suck at schedules and I know they can be helpful. I am trying to get really good at managing my world and my outer world. It takes practice. I will be sharing on steemit as part of the process, mostly because it scares me to share so I should do it :) Thanks for being so positive about everything in a real way. You are so great, it was worth the long trip just to make you as a friend.

Daww we definitely feel the same! We really felt the financial sting when we got back but never questioned for a second wether it was worth it. We're really dying to get back.

sending virtual hugs!

I'm glad you're starting the new year investing in yourself, it will pay off hugely! <3

Great idea, good luck with this. I may have to try it as well. Remember that you're accountable for this now that you announced it in public. :)

I hope you do try it, haha yep that was all part of my strategy. Public accountability. Thanks for checking out my post :)
