CHANG LO...
Chang Lo is also known as Sua Lua. It is a popular folk dance of the northeast of India and it is performed by Chang tribe in Nagaland.
During earlier times, this dance was performed after victory is achieved over an opponent during the battle. However, in present, this dance is mainly performed during POANGLEM festival.

POANGLEM is one of the biggest festivals of Nagaland and it is celebrated before the harvest festivities begin.

During this 3 days festival, they wear colorful dresses and traditional Naga warrior costumes to perform this dance. Both the married and the unmarried boys’ and girls’ equally take part in the Chang Lo dance. Where men wearing a genuine armor and geared up as a warrior and on the other hand women dancers comprises of colorful and beautiful attire.
The props used during the performance are dao, shield and spear, the weapons of war.

This dance is performed with clapping and chanting in rhythm. The drummers and dancers perform together in front of huge gathering. This dance also incorporates the drama element in it.
