Fort Point Channel view from Summer street and Dorchester ave, Boston, Massachusetts

in art •  5 years ago

Here's a painting I did of the Fort Point Channel as it is seen from the intersection of Summer Street and Dorchester Avenue in my home city of Boston, Massachusetts.

The most obvious historical point with the channel is that the Boston Tea Party happened here in 1773, however throughout the mid-1800s the surrounding area was developed by the Boston Wharf Company into an industrial powerhouse for the local shipbuilding trade, and ultimately became a Landmark District of Boston in 2009.

If you've seen the movie The Departed this also may look familiar to you... Thanks!

Warm regards, Michael
