This last part of our 4 part series is what I, and most people who paint using watercolors consider to be the most fun. This is where we refine out work and install some dark hues and last details.
You will notice that later on when I am going for the more defined areas that I am using pure colors (not mixed) and will use a lot less water so that the color saturation is a bit more defined.
Lastly, I break back out the felt-tip pen to add details that wouldn't be possible with any of the brushes that I have. Some people would call this "cheating" but since it is art, I am going to go ahead and suggest that cheating isn't possible without using a computer to draw for you.
This process is what I use for a great many of my watercolors and I enjoy doing them. Many times they are of a picture that I have nearby that I am attempting to replicate although that was not the case here.
We can explore doing those a bit later on.
For now, don't worry if your first ever or 2nd or 100th ever painting doesn't look like it belongs in the Louvre, you have your own thing going here and you should always save your work even if you dont' think it is very good. This way you can see your progress weeks, months, or even years down the line.
