For a triumph of art as a reflection agent for originality

in art •  8 years ago

Art is the facet of the human spirit that can be materialized into something that instigates the individual to reflect and to self improve.

We live in an era fake. The originality gave way to conformity and repetition, we are servants of a time in conformity of the self-indulgence and unthinking acceptance that generates a perpetuating cycle of emotional coldness, the reign of gray. The art appears as resistance to this social torpor. The definition of what would be art is not peaceful because it is variable cultural construction. Some advocate that is manifestation of some special skill or is the presentation of some pattern, order or harmony. However, we should not treat art making as an object of human manifestation, but to understand art as inseparable extension of the human soul. Not an object but a concept inherent in humanity.

For this understanding of art as inseparable from our essence, we can understand the apparent apathy of the ordinary public to come across something considered a work of art. We often hear whispers in the crowd: '' This is art? Until I do that! ''. This sentence reveals much more than a lack of understanding of the meaning of work, reveals an inner emptiness, an emotional anesthesia feature of post modernity. Thus, a possible conception of art, which I advocate, is to consider artistic expression all that produces the individual (and not in a group), a unique feeling never experienced before, raising the reflection of the person herself. This definition then consider what is art for one, can not be art to another, for never share the same vision or the same influences, much less the same life trajectory. This logic of otherness employed in this setting is what makes it attractive, transforming art into a supreme form of personal paradigm breaks, not in a static, unchanging concept.

Black in Deep Red, Mark Rothko, 1957.

At times we are comfortably anesthetized, and surrounded by technological inventions that hurt human relations, art is essential social medicine because it is based on a violation of the dogmas instituted by the individuals themselves, allowing the sight of the overall picture, or even inciting destruction of the frame and a new beginning. But for art to act as individual reflection agent, it must be contrary to the banal, averse obvious, but we are faced today with a growing trivialization of art, considered useless by many people. Art, literature and cinema are trivializaram so that the viewers create the illusion of being educated, the illusion of knowledge and of being at the frontier of knowledge with minimal intellectual endeavor. On this, Mark Rothko, pioneer of American abstract expressionism, said he did not want to become a painter '' beautiful ''. His own period, the 50s was marked by fear and hatred, wars and internal civil conflict in their country. Analyzing its progression in artistic life, and many others, we can see that artistic production flourishes in periods of turmoil, and withered in times reigning conformism, highlighting the art of transgression of character, even in their own way, as we see the avant-garde schools.

The artist transgressor seeks to challenge the bureaucratic essence of society and the non-recognition of the individuals in it, the transgression art challenges the current status quo and is demonstrably essential part of the possibility of human society. Without a dose of art, rooted in the human spirit, there would be no creative innovation and stagnation would be established. Artistic originality, prerequisite for a work to be considered pure art, has to do with modernity. To be modern is to be in motion, it is to know more and have more and more to know. However, stumbling up every day with news in our lives, whether technological or personal, such as meeting with a person we do not see a long time, uncertainty is generated in our core about what would be the meaning of our life path because as everything changes so fast, we do not have - or think we do not have - time to hold on to our own values. Art can intervene in this respect, as the means by which we will change our view of the world, look at life from another angle and thus compensate the liquidity of our times.

Guernica, Pablo Picasso, 1937.

Pablo Picasso, on the very well known work entitled Guernica, says: '' No, do not paint to decorate apartments. It is a weapon of attack and defense against the enemy. 'Picasso's enemy was anyone who defied the democratic state at the height of the Spanish Civil War, however, according to the presented concept, we can say that the enemy is us, the enemy is part of our identity that refuses to change, that sticks to dogmas and prejudices. My ally is the art.
