Automatic Drawing with a Digital Twist

in art •  7 years ago  (edited)

When I was younger, I often did automatic drawing, and the results were often the things that nightmares are made of. To quote Batman, "My brain's not a nice place to be."

I haven't done it in years, but I've seen it quite frequently in recent months, especially here on Steemit. Seeing it so often, it's left me curious about doing it again. Hesitant as all hell about picking up a pen and paper and actually going through with it, but it's been nagging at me for a while now.

Tonight I finally gave in. But instead of analogue materials, I decided to go digital. My tablet.

So here is the result of my first automatic drawing exercise in probably over a decade. I went ahead and colored it as well.

Of course, I only allowed myself to do the automatic part of this drawing for a very brief period of time, because as I said before...

(I did try to get it to start at the right place, but it refuses to. Skip to 31 seconds in.)

Your post up is impressive. Followed @novaatebatman

Looks flying spaghetti monsterish...

If it were anyone else, I'd likely bop them for that. :P

It kinda looks like eyes staring out of a fire to me.

:P Sorry....no bops!! I'll be a good bunny. I just saw a symbol that is part of my world. Now that I look at it again it also reminds me of the sorting hat from Harry Potter...another part of my world. Gotta love how different people see art in different ways.

Oh no! Please don't tell me you're wearing a strainer on your head in your driver's license photo! D:

Honestly, I don't even consider this art. But it's a drawing of sorts, so I threw it under the art tag because art tag.
