In this post you can see the ink illustration 'Scorched' that I created for Chapter Forty-Five of @dougkarr's gripping novel Dwelling, a crime novel set in New York’s Lower East Side.
Ndusen peeked beneath the ancient legs of the tub. Charred wood he had missed in his slapdash painting. What else had he missed?

Creating the drawing using black drawing inks with a dip pen and a dropper.
An acrylic black ink is used to create the darker curved marks, this was applied using a glass dropper. The details were then drawn in with my dip pen.
The scorched spiral pattern snaked from under the corner of a new floor mat. His eyes didn't miss that.

Interesting all the process of creating this work to accompany the fragment you quote from the novel, @opheliafu. A black and white composition that I perceive rare and enigmatic. Inevitably miss your color mark, but it's also a beautiful art. Greetings.

Thank you @aurodivys, I like the abstract qualities of this piece. it is a drawing of something (the scorch marks near the rug) but the qualities of the dark ink lines give it a life of its own outside of that narrative.
