On all the Buddhist temples of the Tibetan tradition and on all the Hindu temples, there is a face and two arms coming out of his mouth.
For Buddhists it is called "the smile of Buddhism and is considered a protector.
For Hindus it is the demon Kirtimukha, the one who loved Shiva.
The story of the demon Kirtimukha
Each temple is adorned with the image of Kirtimukha.
One day a yogi came to see Shiva and began to try to disturb him. Shiva ignored him, but the yogi didn’t leave and disturbed Shiva. Shiva was meditating, so to scare the yogi, shiva created a creature, a demon in human form, and said, "Eat this nuisance."
When the yogi saw this, he fell to Shiva's feet and said, "Please, this time, let me go. I will never bother you again. "
Shiva told the devil, "Okay, let him go. "
The demon says to Shiva "but I'm hungry, I came on an empty stomach"
Shiva tells the devil "eat you"
And Shiva resumed his meditation
After a while, he heard crackling noises, and when he looked, the devil was completely gnawed, he was eating his arms. Shiva looked at him with both arms stuck in his mouth - everything else was gone - and said, "Oh, you're a glorious face. Whoever is able to devour himself in this way is a truly glorious face. You are first and foremost gods. "
It is for this reason that all the temples have the face of Keertimukha. He ate his own body because Shiva asked him.
In the Hindu religion, shiva loves all beings, even demons!
