Orchid petal origami butterflies

The mornings seem to be when my mind and focus is at its most acute, so I attempted to make some origami from the pressed orchid petals that came from a friend's garden.

There is a certain respect that you must have when working with natural materials and by hand. The moisture level of the petals was not low enough and the thickness of the petals too high to hold the crease, so I had to abandon plans of making origami cranes and instead go for the butterflies.

Clearly my phone camera was unable to do it any justice, but I hope that this gives you an indication of the work involved and the mental fitness required to create the models.

If you enjoyed the images, please look for articles I have written on the subject of mental fitness and see what you can achieve when your mind is trained in the right way.

Later in the afternoon... finally an origami crane from orchid petals (see next post)!

Folding small origami is on it's own not an easy thing to do.
Combined with orchid petal as paper, it must take a long time to fold ^^

The result is really great !

Hi @sraleik, I just checked out your profile and you've got a lot of interesting things to keep you busy (for a developer anyway :D). I think the origami tag is a little bit under-utilized on steemit, maybe we can do something about it? Yes, flower petals are difficult to work with, I think butterflies are easier to make but the origami crane would have taken a good hour or so to fold (because I am worried about tearing it apart accidentally).
