Ted Nugent Mural, Original Work by Ray Istre

in art •  8 years ago

I wanted to share this image with you as a tribute to Ted Nugent and the concept of self-sufficiency. I designed and painted this in the early 2000's. The mural is 10 feet tall x 34 feet wide. It hung in Waco, Texas, where Ted had just moved to from Michigan. Ted was there for the unveiling of the mural and liked what he saw. It was an honor, and a bit intimidating to meet Ted Nugent.

The other man in the mural is Fred Bear, who was a mentor to Ted and the inventor of the compound bow. He is a legendary hunter. There is a video on youtube of him stalking a bear with only a bow and arrow. By the way, he gets the bear. Amazing video.

Also included with image of the mural on the wall are news articles, preliminary sketches and close ups.

Here goes. Hope you like it.
