🎨 Blast from the past - "The Thinker" - graphite pencil on glass

in art •  7 years ago

One of my earliest paintings in my special Hinterglas technique. I was experimenting with airbrush and metals and metal powders too, as might be visible in this detail:

I was still rather influenced by artists like Dali at the time... I guess the eye drawer is one of the elements inspired by him

I named the painting "Der Denker" (German for "the thinker")
...looks like the thinking also gave him a headache 🤔

great as always!

Thank you :-)

Very surreal, with some art nouveau frame! Looks strange, unusual!

Worked a lot with art nouveau elements back then... and always had a taste for the unusual of course 👽

...looks like the thinking also gave him a headache

Yes, a splitting headache! ;) lol

This is so strange and wonderful. That eye drawer is so different and unexpected. But totally works. I love shiny things - that metal powder looks so cool! I'm sure it's really spectacular in-person.

lol... splitting headache is right! It was a great piece, if I may say so myself... so long ago, you most likely weren't even born when I painted it..

LOL!!! Well, damn.

The top almost has details like a closed hand or fist. Interesting painting. I'd love to see an animation done by you, although it might take a while since you're so detail-oriented :)

Thank you for sharing this piece.

Thank you for taking the time to take a closer look. The top is indeed a hand... well, kind of one, since its all rocks.. Been thinking of animations too, but like you say... it would take a while.

This painting was actually on a book cover... long time ago!

Great work as always. Really like your post layout also. Great styling and very inviting to learn more.

A big thank you to an extraordinary artist. Glad you like the new "features" 🙂
