Contains mild nudity...
Mistyped it first so it read "nutity"... Ok, that too π
As many of you might already know by now, for each one of my glass painting originals, I build a handmade frame. Over the years, I used a variety of materials. Of course, a lot of wood, but I also made frames in stained glass and a smaller number out of metal.
One of the earliest was actually put together from a copper roof gutter. Squeezed it into a slightly different shape and welded the corners together..
For this next one, I used very thin copper pipes, like one uses for plumbing. Part of the pipes were covered with tin.
Another one made from copper. This time I mostly riveted the pieces together, but there was also some welding.
The frame for "The Spy" was made form titanium zink. That material is relatively "soft" and in order to get a riveted look, I mostly nailed the parts to a wooden structure inside.
The next one looks simple, but it took a lot of experimenting to get the surface on ordinary sheet metal. The glass painting is connected to it only by two small mounts on the top.
Also hammered it a bit, to give it a really "used" appearance.
The last example doesn't look like it fits into this row. But it really is made from metal as well, aluminum, to be precise. I painted it, but if you look closely, you can see the rivets.
I enjoy reading your comments!

All photos/scans by me of my own artwork done in my special technique as introduced in What is Hinterglas?
I love it how you can be so resourceful! I liked the third one with the pointed edges resembling the rhino's horns.
The last one is magnificent! The colors are so vibrant! Her hair has something mesmerising - was it Aphrodite you were looking for out on the reef in Belize? :P
The detail from the creation of Adam and how the two hands (a man's and a woman's) touching falls on her "private area" certainly implies a lot about the creation of life. I saw what you did with the middle fingers :P
The barefoot angels (?) have their faces covered out of piety or shame?
A really sensational painting!!

That painting really stood out to me as well! Interesting themes and beautiful colors. Lots to interpret there!

The "rhino" was undoubtedly one of my most unusual pieces ever.
Very interesting interpretation of the last one. Hehe.. Aphrodite on the reef is funny. But she was born from the see, if I remember correctly, right?
Hm.. hands and middle fingers... looks like a psychologist would have to say something about you for seeing that in there, or for me painting something without consciously being aware of it. Which, according to my ex wife psychiatrist is actually "worse" :-b
Thing is, as much as I like your approach, the painting is about "Agnes Bernauer" a woman who lived here in the 15th century and her position in society. I edited my post and added links to older posts with more info about the corresponding works...

Yes, Aphrodite was seaborn :)
Oops! I guess I should consult a shrink fafter my interpretation :P
This woman's life sounds really tragic. I could not tell it was a ring from this picture. The details look so much better in the original post. For some reason I love her golden hair!

I had my focus on the frames in this post, so yes, a lot of detail from the artwork gets lost. Stupid me takes it for granted, that everyone knows my paintings the way I do... that's why I thought later, it might be a good idea to add the links.
You obviously found it. Yes, very tragic story. Her hair was one thing she was really famous for, but it also played a role in her dreadful end. When they murdered her in the river Danube, it turned out, that she knew how to swim. The evil duke ordered a helper to take a long stick, entangle it in he hair and push her under water...
I did a large artwork (3x4m) on her life when I was very young, consisting of more than 30 individual paintings. I need to get some decent photos and maybe make a post of it. The central painting shows that terrible end. But she held on to her to the last moment...

Her story definitely needs a Steemit tribute.
It is just sad how barbaric people can be. And how people lost their lives just because others had the power to take it away.
I would love to see the complete artwork and I'm sure I won't be the only one!! :)

Of course, I agree with you and I will make the post sometime soon. Plus I think things haven't really changed. If you are in the way of those in power, they will find a way to get rid of you... maybe the methods are a bit different :-/

So hey! I see you have some tarot art there. Do you have an illustrated deck of your own? I would really like to see it if so... your art is so cool. I had to go back and look at the frames again which are really amazing but the art itself is what draws me in. I especially love the one with the rhino and the one with the woman and the angels wrapped in her hair. Just wow. I am a tarot reader also... the art can be so fascinating. The ones I use are Aquarian Tarot and Carl Rohrig (I think I spelled that right)... its the art that speaks tho, for the best decks! But its all subjective. Differences re "best." Thank you so much for sharing!! A great contribution to the Blockchain!

Haha.. well put :-) The copper frames are actually held together by real rivets, as this metal is stiffer and didn't need the wooden support inside.
Hope to always have something interesting in the future.

"mild nudity" ? what is it? like, a little bit of nudity? I can't see it.
anyway, upvoted, resteemed. Also shared it on my Twitter VAG account: https://twitter.com/visionaryartcom/status/951238219571564544 which is embedded on the VAG website also: http://www.vagallery.com/visionary-twitter.html

Hehe... a little bit of nudity that is not supposed to be "offensive" enough to need an nsfw tag. Of course not everyone is unoffended the way we are ;-)
Boaahhh... you know how to run these things!

Love the creativity and your frames! Framing canβt really make such a huge difference in the presentation of art. I am always a bit sad that I donβt frame mine, but in my little apartment there isnβt space for a proper workshop.

Thank you. I have to say, for my glass paintings, the handmade frames make a huge difference. My wife sees my glass sheets on my easel and as she walks by, she's like..ok. But when I present her the finished and framed piece, she sill can't believe the difference it makes.

Thatβs awesome :) itβs always cool when those closest to you get excited about what youβve created, especially when seeing it in a different light. I get that from friends generally when they see a piece in person, an image on a screen just never quite compares.

Your insight and abilities are amazing, my friend. The last one is one of my favorites of all your works that Iβve seen so far. I fantasize about possessing one of your originals one day.
I really enjoy reading the comments you get, and your responses. Always so polite, positive, gracious and humble you are. π

Agnes Bernauer, the figure that last painting is about, has accompanied me almost all of my professional life and I did three major artworks on her and the tragic story.
Of this painting I made two versions and a series of... how should I call it.. semi originals? The sheets were printed in a tiny edition of 99 and then I painted on the prints, turning each one in a one of a kind.
Don't know, if you read this post about how a collector became a friend after a "funny" first encounter. He also owns this original. I once asked him to borrow it to me for an exhibition in Brussels for 3 weeks. He agreed, but when I brought it back, my friend's wife told me, that not having the painting around almost killed him. I found out, that he would sit on a chair in front of it every day, gazing at it for hours...
I'm not sure how strong your desire to turn a fantasy into a reality is, but I don't think, it would be too difficult to own one of my originals. Interestingly enough, I just sold my first fine art print for 30 SBD.. shipping a glass painting is the bigger issue, but I can always hand deliver it ;-)
I think, when someone is interested enough, to actually look at/read my post and even leave a comment, an adequate reply is the least I can do. I usually look at the blog of everyone who leaves a halfway decent comment too.
Plus I really enjoy these little chats, like the conversations you and I are having π

Well I canβt stop looking at your Agnes work here. Sean feels the same way as me about it and says, βI want that original....β Pity itβs already owned and beloved by your friend. Perhaps one of your unique reproductions will have to do on this one.
As you know we have moved and buying everything new in Puerto Rico. I only brought 2 decorative items with me here...a pair of metal angel wings that a sweet friend gave me before I left and the lady skates print you sent me. So, you are already partly here in spirit.

The thought of you both liking "Agnes" that much is very flattering, thank you for telling me :-)
Since my friend turned 80 last year, he is looking for a museum to "inherit" his collection. Interestingly enough, he won't let his sons have it, because he thinks they'll just sell the paintings. To him it is important that the collection stays complete and so I am afraid getting just the one is next to impossible.
It means a lot to me, that you like the little "LadySkates" and brought it to your new home. I hope it will always bring a ray of joy for you both.
Right now I only have two of the sheets I mentioned on my website. I'm planing to do a few more in the coming weeks (with different color hair).. Sorry, its only in German, but you can click on the images to enlarge and this may give you a rough idea of what they look like... I also have a print in the quality of "LadySkates", only much bigger :-)

Thanks, glad you like it. Dali is pretty much the best known surrealist, and I think that's why we often think of him, when we see this type of art.
