DIY furniture refurbish #2 (SOLD $225)

Okay peeps.
Time for another round of furniture refurbishing processes from yours truly.
Before I get into it, here is the finished product for your viewing pleasure

This was a custom piece done for a friend, and every detail was crafted with care and was completely customized, from the stenciling, hand wrapped drawer pulls, and colors. Commissions are so fun because my client gets to literally dream up whatever they want :)

Again my goal of starting this business was to:

A) Be creative
B) Make some extra money.
C) Salvage furniture that would have been dumped or stayed ugly lol

However! with this piece the base was already beautiful! It was a handmade mahogany dresser that had been passed down through the previous owners family, but they couldn't keep it where they were going. It was falling apart and they wanted to give it to someone who would fix it. Their wish was granted.

I seem to always forget or lose the before picture of my pieces....
so here is a shot after the original hardware was taken off/spackled, and I had started sanding

Seriously though

***look how beautiful this wood is!! ***

Started with the black base paint, with Rustoleum oil based paint. I love it. It actually soaks into the wood instead of just covering the wood up, so you can see some wood grain still through the black, which looks beautiful.

Now for stencils

uuughhhhhhh

Luckily these turned out a LOT better than the last stencil I tried, and looked great!!
I used a cream colored Rustoleum spray paint, with an adhesive backed stencil.

Last to help make the piece pop a little bit, I added the cream color to the face of the unit.

All I had to do from this point was wrap the drawer pulls and we were in business!
I gave two options of twine to wrap with. They chose the closer of the two.

lmao I have no idea why it has "and" as a tag. i didnt write it, and it wont let me remove or replace it hahah

I can feel your excitement about your end product! This is so beautiful. I have pieces around my home that I want to refurbish, and your beautiful work will be my inspiration. Just your comment about how beautiful the wood itself is, tells me that you LOVE doing what you do. Keep going, keep inspiring. I will follow you for inspiration.

Thanks you for that! I have made about 10-12 pieces in the last few months and this I think is my favorite so far. glad you like it, I hope you end up refurbishing your pieces. It doesnt have to be costly or take forever. Chalk paint, chalk paint wax, and new drawer pulls can do wonders :)

...i love it....i want it ....idk what ill do with it...but i want it. Have u ever done the kind where it looks beat down (sorry cant explain better)? I think they use chalk color for it too....tho chalk color its quite a novely here (and the price is to the roof) id prolly give it a go...

Yes. That is called distresses or shabby chic. Ive done plenty of those, its very popular right now :)

Any particular reason you stick to Rustoleum brand paints?
Affordability?

I like that they are oil based which is key with furniture you want to LAST and not be beat up super quick. I use chalk paint a lot, but usually that is for decorative pieces that arent going to be "used" as much. It also cures very hard, and acts as a protective coat.

Nice work man!!! I've done my fair share of DIY's as well on an amateur level. It can be very rewarding :):)

The boy knows how to flip. What a yunk of tale @saywha. I can't be anymore proud of you and everyday you never cease to amaze me. #yunk support 5000

Damnnnnnn.

I really like the black... like right off the bat, and then i saw the handles... really nice work. I like that you made the handles kind of follow them with the stencil you used. The cream looks nice as it pops, but not in a mad way like a white would.

Very nice job... Up-Yunked.

Thanks brutha. I appreciate that!

keep posting your projects... they are really cool to see as well as the process.

How about that "before" picture though next time ;-)

meh. I have it somewhere I could probably find...

done

Verrrrry nice.

This is good for your reputation... as PR Rep I would know.
