Digital Art made with Corel Painter

in art •  7 years ago

Dear friends and followers,

while I'm still having lots of fun doing some digital drawings at dada.nyc, I just recently stumbled upon a new Humble bundle called the BOB ROSS BUNDLE.

While you get some episodes of the famous PBS show "The Joy of Painting" and some funny drawing games, when you "pay what you want", you will get Corel Painter Essentials 6 and some more stuff, when you pay at least $15.

Although I'm quite happy with the opensource digital drawing software Krita, I'm always curious about testing out new things. So here are the first digital artworks, I created with Corel Painter:

bla2_Fotor.jpg

I especially like the wet oil brush and the SmartStroke™ brush, which lets Painter quickly convert any photo into a painting of a given style.

Also the performance on my MacBook Pro is quite good.

Furthermore there are quite a few tutorial videos at youtube, that help you getting started, some interesting artist interviews and an discounted upgrade price for the professional Painter 2018.

Disclaimer

I'm neither affiliated with the Humble Bundle, nor Corel Painter. I just thought, it might be some interesting information for other digital artists.

Thanks for watching!

Beautiful my friend. I sense a psychedelic theme or use fo the art. I also can see it used in a Formica tiles. I had three summers of water color lessons and that was my art. LOL You do well. Again thanks @shortcut

Thanks for your kind feedback. If you have fun in doing art, you don’t need any lessons imho.

Very nice indeed! I especially like the SmartStroke effect :-)

I used Corel Draw for years, mostly with photos. When MS stopped supporting Win 7, I was forced to switch to Win 10, and I couldn't my Corel program to function properly :-(

The money aspect didn't bother me too much, but all the time I had invested in learning the program was lost. That really pisses me off.

Thanks a lot for your feedback :-)
As far as I know, the latest versions of Corel Draw and Painter Essentials do work with Windows 10.
For 15$ you could give it a try without loosing too much ;-)

Thanks, I upgraded but discovered that my previous mastery of the program was only "somewhat" useful on the new version. It was almost like starting over, so I decided to give Gimp a try.

Argh! That's a real pity. Fingers crossed, that you will get the hang on Gimp. Although it also has quite a learning curve, it's a mighty piece of of software and I appreciate, that it's opensource.

Thanks for your service, looks interesting. I especially liked the second recommendation ;-)

Very colourful and dynamic! :) I happen to like the first one best, as it has some very recognizable elements - the crocodile and skull (yeah, I got a five year old son, I tend to focus on those kind things in this period of my life ;)

Thanks, I know what you mean. My seven year old daughter also liked the first a lot ;-)
