This was done for a game that was first of its kind: an MMOTCG. Massively Multiplayer Online Trading Card Game.

The game is a bit similar to Magic: The Gathering, and indeed Wizards of the Coast sued Cryptozoic (but settled, for an undisclosed amount).
This is a female elf rogue, level 1. I don't know if they used it in the end, but at least they paid for it (but not much lol, it's a fact of the industry that cards don't make you rich, most artists do them more for portfolio pieces and for fun). It was done in Photoshop.

The reason I don't have more wips is because this was done some years ago, and I didn't save a lot of stages.

Can't remember exactly, it was years ago, but it was roughly 150 - 250 usd. Maybe sounds like a lot to some people, but counting the hours I spent, and comparing the hourly wage to what I used to make as an illustrator when I was much younger, yeah it wasn't that great. :)

I feel your pain... I used to create some simple illustrations before, but I live in a country with a minimum salaries of 270 usd per month, so for me it was worth doing it :)
