Small introduction into the life and work of Leonardo
Leonardo Da Vinci was what would could be described as a true Reinesciance man and his areas of interest included invention, painting, sculpting, architecture, science, music, mathematics, engineerin, literature, anatomy, geology, astronomy, botany, writing, history, and cartography.Leonardo was born in the Tuscany town of Vinci on 15 April 1452 and little is known about his childhood. At the age of 14 he enters the workshop of the painter Verrocchio in Florence and under his atention he developed a part of his skills. In the painting Baptism of Christ which was made between 1472-75 in Verrochio's workshop, it is belived that Leonardo painted the right angel.
The painting Adoration of Magi, or Mary was made in 1481 and it represents that biblical scene when the 3 wise man came to see Mary and baby Jesus.It is very intruiging because it has been recently restored and has more color than in the exapmle I've put here. For that expirience of freshly reinvigorated Leonardo's work you will have to visit www.uffizi.it or just go to Florence Italy and wait for few hours in line to get to the Uffizi gallery itself. It's totally worth it if you are an art lunatic.
In these first works Leonardo showed great talent, skill and commitment to his work. He was in ease with all the perspective laws that rediscovered in the beggining of the 1400s and he everything he approached soon he would master.
How he could do that, many wondered. In this series, perhaps it will be a little clearer why he was who he became.
