This is a collection of fan art works for Ghost in the Shell, of which I feel deserve merit and appreciation. Give the artists’ your thanks and check out their other works as well. I may eventually do a highlight for one of these artists themselves :).

All I Need
By Elena

What a beautiful piece! This is the best fanart I could find, so it gets the first spot in this collection. A cute scene between Bato and Motoko, the major, enjoying some ramen, dumplings and beer. The motif of the ramen shop is so nice to see; the act of eating food and enjoying a meal is one of the most common motifs in art history. How many paintings have you seen depicting people eating food, or just a still-life of food itself? What gets to me about this work is the softness that covers the canvas, whilst not reducing the dimensionality of each form and in-fact somewhat enhancing it. Lighting is a major focus in this and is done exquisitely well. Elena has out-done herself here and you should give her gallery a solid look-over as she has some amazing works.

Ghost in the shell
By Muju

Always surprised folks don’t choose different titles, but I guess people just want to get all that SEO hm? Well, damn this one is pretty darn good. Composition is key on this: Motoko’s face appears to be slightly pointed down but she’s looking right at the audience. Perfect application of anatomical accuracy and proportion in the face. The dissected feel is an interesting one, but is on-par with the theme of GITS. The facade of organic humanism that is stripped away as the cybernetic innards are exposed. The darker atmosphere behind her body allows for the colors to really pop out and provide full effect. With having a gradation of light dimming the farther out you go from the middle makes it feel like the imagery is bursting from within the canvas. This work is fantastic and Muju has an amazing gallery you should all check out!

Ghost in the shell
By Crystal Graziano

The background is a bit odd in this one, I can’t tell if it’s a simulation that they’re practicing in or just a fun little technical-overlay. I enjoy this for the tachikoma and off-screen focus of the characters. Reminds me of a line of knights readying to charge into battle, showing their expressions and poses. This piece fulfills the primary art aspects, so I feel it’s worthy of being in a collection; Crystal has some great works with a lot of variety so be sure to check that out :)

Tribute
By Pasquale Qualano

Always gotta have some solid line-art up in this, and Pasquale delivers. The perspective brings forth an added level of dimensionality, as well as the fact that the only aspect that distinguishes the floor are the shadows and wires; There is no defined line of where the floor meets the walls, particularly with the shift in brightness around that area. This gives complete focus to the character which is the primary subject matter. Line thickness is key to artworks like this, and Pasquale has done well on that. I dig it man!

GITS Fanart
By Albert Urmanov

ghost_in_the_shell_fanart_by_albyu-d8hjvip.jpg

This work highlights one of the iconic scenes from the first GITS movie and Albert does it justice. The lighting in this is magnificent, giving a serious photo-realistic aspect to this. Great proportions and with just a few deformations in the cloth it builds the sense of tightness, as well as the display of her collar bones. This piece is a great example of how the foreground and back aid in enhancing the primary subject matter by making the subject really ‘feel’ like it’s ‘in’ in the canvas. Albert has some serious talent, give his gallery a look-over for more fan art and OC creations.

That is a good anime.

What if Soon as they downloaded there brain into that virtual brain they died. Everyone is just copies.

In a sense, they do. Death is a transitory experience, and the idea of existing in virtual space is it being an improvement over not. You are no longer bound by time in the way human's are now, and can then do much more than we can do. GITS is part of the answer, which is to merge with machine, however it doesn't go too deep into unified consciousness; The first movie explores this with the 'merge' idea of Motoko and The PuppetMaster aka Project 2501.

Thanks for the Vote :)

Thats Transhumanism.

The Conspiracy Theory says that eventually we will combine ourselves with technology and once we do we will lose ourselves to whoever has control. Erase memories, change emotions, take away freethought.

that's not transhumanism, however what you speak of it is a result of ego being the controling force behind the super intelligent machines. Understand that the technology involved with uploading consciousness and merging yourself with a machine body, interface, or "mode" is a transcendent act. The synapses used in this new technology are billions of times faster than our own and will not have the need of the reptilian brain. Our desire for control, and thus anxiety and paranoia, comes from the reptilian brain that we've evolved from. The process of merging with machines rids us of ego and gives us higher-dimensional abilities, particularly exceeding the current constraints time has on us. We can't predict what super intelligence will do because we aren't it, however I feel it's obvious to say that the super machine intelligence would have no need for ego because it has no need to fear death or conquer life the way we humans do.

Remove the fear from your thoughts and see what remains :)

I'm sure your thinking of a robot body with out emotions. You don't technology for none of that, you can control your emotions and ego if you're smart enough. A robot brain robot body is just a crunch.

Death is only the beginning. _ from The Mummy

I love that anime. It did make me think about life.
