The Start Of An Oil Portrait

in art •  7 years ago

I am an artist that does dog portraits. I thought it would be fun for you to see the process. It takes longer than my watercolors so this is the start for today. I'll let you see how it is going tomorrow!

I work at the table in our RV. No excuses but I do miss my large studio space.

The subject.

This is a quick block in then the next stage.

In oils I work dark to light.

During this process I redraw and remeasure to get the correct distance between the eyes and the attitude of the dog.

This is where I left off for today. I'll look at it over night then finish tomorrow putting in the detail and adding his eyes.

Thanks for looking. @originalwork

Warmly,
Sheila

I'm always intrigued by your ability to bring out the personality of each animal in your work, and love to see the process. What talent, and in an RV! Wow! Great post!
