Sacred Art in Secular Terms

in art •  7 years ago

This talk was given at the Northwest Catholic Family Education Center on October 27-28, 2017 with Jordan Peterson and other speakers. http://nwcatholicconference.com/

There is a vigorous return to liturgical art happening today. This movement to rediscover the ancient language of the West can be understood in secular terms and as a natural consequence of an exhaustion in the revolutionary understanding of how art develops.

In this talk I use Camille Paglia as one secular thinker who understands how sacred art is the source out of which the arts can be reinvigorated.

Great talk @symbolism, it makes my head spin.

Cool, I will check this out!

A lot of people's understanding of ancient art has been dumbed down by cable TV! There is so much more to it...

Awesome to see you on here, and to see this topic covered. Happy Catholic here (at least in its proper essence) - fighting for beauty with my life as an artist as well. Decided to follow (doesn't happen very much these days). Also a big fan of Peterson.

wish the art will be always existing until to the end of times
