Hey Steemit!
We're back again with another Art Attack! If you're new to the series, this is where I share my drawings and the process behind them. A behind-the-scenes look at my artwork, if you will. This is not to say that I'm very good at art, or that I'm a professional in any way. In fact this is the opposite, and serves as a reminder to how I first started, and lets me track my progress too!
So I've been sharing about my first time doing a subathon on Twitch back in September since Twitch has a promotion on subscriptions the whole month. It was my first attempt at a subathon, which is a type of livestream where every time a streamer receives a subscription, more time is added to a descending timer with various rewards after a certain number of subs. I'm not really comfortable having such goals but since it was for a good cause I wanted to try it out.
Anyway, the main impetus behind this was I just wanted to make a graffiti wall with the names of all those who contributed and that's exactly what I ended up doing! I also did lots of art and drew stickers for all those who contributed 5 subs or more. The response was astounding and I ended up amassing quite a bit of art debt but it was fun trying to draw stickers and they came out really well so I thought I'd share them!
Apart from chibi head stickers I also wanted to add special icons beside the names of those who contributed. The idea I had was to ask those people for their favourite emotes on Twitch and I would draw them into stickers and stick them beside their names on the graffiti wall, with the number of stickers indicating how many subs they contributed. I thought it was a good way to fill up the little empty spaces on the wall too. Well in the end they ended up gifting way more than I expected so I just placed the stickers where I thought they would look good.
For one of my viewers who goes by Streetrata on Twitch, I drew him 2 chibi heads and 2 emote stickers, but I had a special idea for one of them.
He said his favourite Twitch emote is this dancing dinosaur called DinoDance which I thought was really cute. It was also the first animated global emote that was added on Twitch and I don't see it used often enough tbh.

Anyway, I wouldn't be doing an animated sticker since that would be a lot more work. And since their dino is pixelated I wondered how it would look smooth.
I did find a cute dinosaur reference that I thought would be good for a sticker too. I was thinking of drawing a revamped version of the dino to see how it would look but thought it would be more recognisable if I drew it as-is first.
So here's a sketch:
I didn't know how else to improve on it and thought this was pretty accurate to how it looks smooth I guess. So I outlined it:
And after adding some colours and shadows, we get this:
I thought this looked pretty good but I was still curious how the other dino would look and decided to draw that as well. So I sketched it out with the help of the reference but adapting it to the dino emote:
I thought this looked too cute not to finish so I went ahead and did it! Here's the outline:
And finally the colours with shadows! It reminded me a little of Yoshi tbh which was probably why I
liked it so much.
For the other sticker I wanted to do a special one for Streetrata since he's been supporting me a lot this year, and even bought merchandise that I designed! He also streams sometimes so I thought of making a special emote sticker just for him!
He really loves using this sip emote from one of the other streamers he supports so I thought I'd make a custom one for him, with a rat sipping on a protein shake since he always watches me while on the way to do his workout at the gym.
I've never done a sip emote before so I needed some references. I also wanted to give him a sneaky side eye kind of expression since that's similar to the one he always uses.
In the end I came up with this sketch which I thought was pretty good! I wasn't sure how to draw him sipping out of the protein shaker bottle so I drew a straw from it instead.
Tbh I don't think he actually drinks protein shakes but he's said that he drinks energy drinks a few times. I was thinking of changing it to an energy drink instead but thought this would match the gym vibe I was going for better. Plus with this expression the protein shake would make more sense. I feel like with the energy drink his face would be more ecstatic and hyper from all the sugar.
Here's the outline:
Once I got the outline down everything else was pretty easy. I decided on a grey mouse since that's the most common rat colour, and I didn't really know what colour is a protein shake but figured a light brown like coffee would work. I made the straw classic red and white stripes to give some colour contrast.
Now that I look at the references again I think I should've made the paws a flesh colour similar to the ears but it didn't occur to me at the time. Welp too late now I guess. I think it still looks alright though, and I'm glad Street loved it too!
Here's the timelapse for these stickers!

I really enjoyed doing these stickers and was more than glad to do them for all those contributed! There's just a few more to go so stay tuned!
Thanks so much for reading!
