Another skull study with geometric shapes. This piece was a lot of fun to do though a little bit tedious painting in all of the diamonds in the background. Straight lines are not my thing!

Here you can see the grid for the diamonds all laid out while I painted in the skull with layers of watercolor paints.

The skull all finished before I began working on the diamonds.

this is fantastically done, i love how you worked the negative space in with the diamonds. keep up the good work!

Thank you! and thanks for resteeming :)

What a great use color! I love all of the earth tones, grays and clays you've got going on here, and how the subtle changes in background really make the contrast pop! This is sharp and crisp in all of the right places, which really accentuates the darker, almost scowling angle you've approached the piece with - the way the teeth and cheekbones jut into the darkness are perfect examples. I also love the shadowing around the outsides of the eye sockets. Fantastique! it's a little like water colour.beautiful! never thought i'd say that about a skull! this is just stunning work!!
