Baby seal studies - It’s hard not to fall in love!

in art •  7 years ago  (edited)

Oh, it’s midnight here again. Wow, time does fly. I started this study earlier this afternoon but I’ve been feeling kinda off so I spent most of my day watching the new Card Captors series and now I’m moving onto rewatching The Visions of EscaFlowne. I also love the movie for the series. Van’s one of my favorite characters. I might attempt to do some fan art sometime this week.

I’m doing another sketch on my iPad Pro using the Apple Pencil. The software that I’m using is Procreate. I’m using the round brush, dry ink, and gouache tool.

I’ve been thinking about posting time lapse videos from my most recent drawings but I’m a little torn about where I should upload them. Lately YouTube has been killing my vibe and I get tired of using the same music. I could upload it to dtube but then I could only do one video per post and I wonder if it’s even worth it. Please, everyone, let me know what you think!

It’s been fun drawing these animals. I got a lot of praise for the Goldfish studies from yesterday, they’re definitely my favorite animal studies so far.

I even attempted to do some light washes of color. I’m not a fan but I tried.

Thanks for stopping by to view my art!

What’s your favorite baby animal? Maybe I’ll try drawing it if you I can be convinced in the comments below! 🦊

I liked the way you started the blog. Your writing style is very good and your art too.
Both of these things have proved that you are a creative person and I am jealous 😀

I wouldn’t be jealous. I usually write the way I speak normally and the art got good after lots of practice hours.

That's so nice of you.
O yeah, it is the case with everything. You just have to put hard work and wait/persevere.

These guys came out so cute! My favorite baby animal is....all of them!

Hahaha! Good choice!

Really cool! Those white seals are adorable!

Thank you!

Very good a art, resteem

Thank you so much!

Welcome, help me with your power

Very Very Very cute

I know!!! I have a soft stop for cute things!

:)

Super cute seal. Love the poses! I do most of my illustrations in photoshop, but have only heard good things about procreate...would you recommend it?

Glad I stumbled upon your blog! Looking forward to seeing more :D

I’d definitely recommend it. It’s the only program that I’ve consistently been using. It is very user friendly so maybe that’s why I’ve stuck with it. I get a little lost when I’ve got too many tools to choose from on a side bar.

Thanks for checking out my art!

That’s good to know. I have a few friends that have made the switch and haven’t looked back since. Photoshop can be overwhelming for me, so I definitely like the idea of consolidating all of those extra sidebars and tool sets.

I can't believe that you did this on Ipad, btw you should definitely upload it on DTube. Make series of posts

I just found out that I have to have a computer to upload my files successfully on dtube. I’ll probably borrow someone’s computer to make quick dtube posts but I’ll definitely find a way! :D

You can use mobile, just put desktop mode in Google Chrome

I’ll give it a go! Thanks. :)

These have a nice watercolor-like feel to them. Handheld tablet graphics software is getting quite good.

I know, I’m always surprised when the advancements in technology. I was blown away when I first started drawing on my iPad. It’s incredible. I also love watercolors so most of my work comes out delicate and soft.

Good

Wow this is what I call art great job

Thank you. :)

I may have to get some pointers from you. Is there any good resources, perhaps a good Youtube channel you could recommend to drawings hints and tips. I just recently got a Dell Canvas and although its more for image retouching I've always wanted to try my hand more at traditional drawing. Seems a shame not to make the most of it :)

I don’t really watch YouTube channels. Sometimes I will look to Pinterest for tips on perspective drawing. I would recommend checking out these fellow steemians: @loganarchy, @beekart, and @la-fummettista. My approach for digital art is winging it until it looks good.

Haha I like that approach. Ill check out those Steemians too. Always good to get recommendations for good creatives.

Amazing and pro work done through procreate, this is reflecting an cute relationship between these seal, and it's an story telling means, it's reflecting as both seals are not talking to each other after an cute fight. In my opinion you can try the relationship of cat and dog in next post, and also in my opinion you can try DTUBE. Thanks for sharing. 🙂

Stay Blessed.

I’ll definitely give dtube a shot. Hahah and I actually thought about the story for this after it was drawn. To me the baby seal in the background is annoyed of the other one for it’s silly behavior. :D

Yes. 🙂

Panda babies :) My favorite :) Great one again @vermillionfox, just to mention :)

I also love Panda babies! I watch the videos of them causing mischief in zoo’s. They’re adorable!

I follow them on Instagram, small clips that make me laugh and melt each time :)

Daww love the upside-down one especially! haha not to make another request, but- ever do otters? lol they're some of my favorites!

Well done!

The upside-down one was actually pretty tricky to get right. Hahha, I’ll add otters to my list!

I can imagine! So enjoying following your work - keep it up! <3

It is so cute that I would like to have a baby seal hahaha, beautiful your work!

Thank you so much! I’m pretty sure I’ll draw every cute animal that I wish I could snuggle in real life!

Awwwwwww....
Awwwwwwwwwwwww.
The upside down seal is too cute.
All I can do is go awwwwwwwwwww.

Hahah! I image you doing this while saying “Awww!”

Oh my goodness... So cute! You must've had a big smile on your face while you were drawing these little adorabuddies. haha And for what it's worth, I think the light color washes worked out well!

Choosing a favorite baby animal might be like trying to choose a favorite song... too many to list. But I'll name a few, and maybe something will inspire you? Otter, elephant, pig, raccoon, sugar glider, fennec fox.

Aww, thank you! I had little to no confidence with the colors for this so you’ve made me feel better! I know.. I’ve probably got 5-10 favorite baby animals myself. XD

!!!!!

Seals are my favorite animal <3

In fact my parents tell me that my first sentence as a child was "seals eat fish"

So thank you for this gift :)

Cute! I used to be into the movie Andre when I was younger. I won’t bother rewatching it because those movies never age well.

haha yeah, best to let the children's animal movies of our past stay good memories. I recently read that there are over 14 "Land Before Times" films now, all of them terrible...sobs

accomplishment & embracing!

Thanks

I'm liking this series of animal studies 🙂. So, if you're taking suggestions, this was my Masters study species:

Would love to see your take on these little guys :)

Is that a fox????? 😲

Yes. Bat-eared fox (Otocyon megalotis). I spent nearly a year in the Kalahari with a habituated population of these guys. They are super cute. Especially the puppies 🙂

I’ll definitely sketch these guys out. I love the ears!

They remind me of baby Falcors (Luck Dragon from the NeverEnding Story)

Awww... NeverEnding Story! ❤️

Lovely line and colours. Crypto Seal babies? :D

Thank you!

Awww, so adorable! My favorite baby animals are elephants! There is something so playful and sweet about those little giants. <3
Hugs to you lovely!

Baby elephants are adorable. I love watching them run around, they’re so entertaining! <3 Hope you’re having a great night!

They so are!🐘
