For my second ever post on Steemit I’d like to show you a photoshoot I did recently with my neighbor. When creative spirits live on the same street things get arty pretty quickly! We have musicians, a makeup artist/tattoo designer and henna artist...and that’s only the discovered talents...I’m sure there’s plenty more hidden creativity waiting to be found on our quiet little caul-de-sac. A street of gold?!

So I had been itching to do a styled henna shoot for a long time but I have learned that part of the secret of a striking model is in the makeup! The makeup will make the photo ‘pop’ and I needed a good makeup artist....I have not been blessed with the skills of a makeup artist and needed help. I asked my teenage neighbor if she would do the makeup if I found a model and she offered to do both! Amazing!

She made the long treacherous journey to my house (about 4 doors down) and we got creating. I applied the Henna designs freestyle onto her hands and chest/shoulders then we chose a beach and took the 4WD down onto the sand and froze our butts off for an hour of shooting. I was super stoked with the results and will share Part Two (a Forest Photoshoot with the same Henna/model) another time!

Combining my passion for Henna and my love of Photography is the best feeling. It is so satisfying to apply a gorgeous henna design and then be able to capture it permanently in a photo in the exact style that I had in my mind. It makes my heart dance and fuels a creative fire in my soul!

I hope you enjoyed these photos...it was so hard to pick only a couple to show you.

Would you like to know more about what Henna actually is and how I make my paste and apply it?

I’d love to share more about this natural art form with you :)

Thanks for coming along and being a part of my story. Peace out!

Jessi

Lovely shots. Clearly painstaking work getting all that henna on. Hard for the model to sit still too. Do the babies kick when you do bellies?

Thanks Matt! Yes bellies are the hardest place to Henna when wanting a still surface! The baby moves and kicks and the Mum usually wants to have a drink and laugh and chat if I’m doing it at her baby shower. Music festivals are also tricky for keeping people still...after a few drinks and with the beats going it’s hard to say ‘stop moving!!’ Hehe 🤣 But it’s all part of the fun!

Ah, your artwork is really beautiful. And I like the look of this lady - she's like a refined punk rocker! Stellar photos. BTW, I found you through the @ocd curation. Welcome to Steemit.

Thankyou! Yes she was so stunning to photograph! I love her style and her confident expression of who she is! :)
