I think my paintings have been too blue lately. I decided to introduce some warm colors this time.

I think I've hit something of a roadblock this week while painting. There comes a time about once a year where my inner critics voice becomes significantly louder than usual. This is a call for change.

Once again I am feeling the pull to abstraction.

This painting started out fairly straightforward. I was doing somewhat of a forest scene when I kept impulsively adding unnecessary layers. Soon the piece was becoming chaotic and unrecognizable.

The whole experience was surprisingly stressful. I had sabotaged the image creating problem ares everywhere and now my mind strained to come up with solutions and bring the scene back into order.

I didn't like the painting at all in the moment. I contemplated abandoning it multiple times.

It wasn't until the last hour that everything came together and the piece redeemed itself. The last 20 minutes took a dark turn, but in the end it was the addition of red that I think saved the piece.

I like how the colors come together with this piece. It's how the water color acts on paper and the gradient effect that makes me love this medium. Though I don't use it. I just like looking at the works from it.

it's incredible wow, will you publish another drawing of the same style?

I feel like I've kinda fell through the rabbit hole with this one, @william-syrus :) Nice one ! I love it !
