Today I bring you the second part of this serie that I have called “If they are not upvoting you is because…” and I will dedicate it to those who publish their visual arts works, and I mean painting and drawing mainly, two of those we most frequently find on our platform.

In the previous post I dedicated myself to the Photography but I think it's important to understand all the reasons, to have a broader vision of what curators seek or reject (and remember that on Steem platform we're ALL curators), mainly those who do curation for the different organized communities.
It is always important to remember that Steem wants to reward the original content, but at the same time, the effort that the authors put in their posts. Therefore a post that only contains a picture of a painting you made, will almost certainly pass under the table. And there is a substantive reason that justifies the decision to discard it: is that there is no way to verify that it is an original work, we can not even verify if it is the work of the author of the post.
One of the important aspects that you should consider when making your post is that the curator, or the reader in general, gets convinced that it is a work of yours. You have the freedom to be creative and invent your way of showing it to us, but it must be convincing.
Some of the ways to show it are:
- Show images of the process, since you made the first strokes, until you have the complete work.
- Nowadays speedpaint videos have become popular, which is a video of the entire process that took your work, but in fast motion.
- Show some photos of you during the creation process next to the work. In this case it does not have to be so detailed, but that we can see that the work is in its initial stage until it reaches the finished one. And if you appear with a banner or card with your username on Steem, we will all know that your post was made especially for our platform.

There is a painter who only exposes his paintings, without showing anything about the process and on one occasion we wrote him to give the indication, to which he replied that he was not going to do that, that he was not going to start doing tutorials... Well, that is perfectly valid, but you should also understand that this will limit the amount of upvotes you will receive.
Original work
The above described is sufficient for any original work, and with this term I mean that what is represented in the work is a product of the imagination of the creator or of some place he visited, or some person portrayed by the author, that is to say the representation of something the artist saw in person. Because in the case of a practice of imitating someone's work, or showing your interpretation of another artist's work, or if it's a work from an existing image, whether it's a photo or of some drawing or painting by another artist, it is ESSENTIAL that you put the source. And I explain it again in detail: the source of an image should take you to the website where the original image is located.
NOT TO THE PICTURE ITSLEF
NO TO A SEARCH ON GOOGLE OR ANOTHER SEARCH ENGINE
NO TO THE MAIN ADDRESS OF THE SITE YOU TAKEN FROM
It is a very common practice in the arts, to imitate the work of another, because it is part of the learning process and mastery of techniques, as well as a way of "understanding" the way in which the "other" artist sees the world. Therefore, that is not a bad thing. The wrong thing is to make the others think that it's an original creation of one and if one "omits" that information, anyone can think that it is with the idea of attributing yourslef the authorship.

Of course, the appreciation of whether a work is of quality or not, is something totally subjective and will depend on each person. But if you do your job with dedication and seriousness, with all its due process shown in images, telling the resources and materials you used, the techniques used and similar valuable information, the chances that you'll receive the support of the different curation communities will grow enormously.
Remember that today curators have many tools to identify images even with a certain level of difference. In other words, if you are making a similar interpretation to any work by another author, it will most likely be detected and you will be left as a cheater. So it is best not to fool anyone.
This clarification, although it does not apply to the majority of users of this platform, I expose it here because unfortunately we have detected many users trying to deceive the readers and users of the platform.
Put trust in you and create your original works! Show us how you did it and I assure you that you will be rewarded.
