Amanda Palmer Ukulele Lady

in art •  7 years ago

I've been working for the lovely and talented Amanda Palmer (on occasion) for the last three years. It all started with the singer finding a portrait randomly online - and contacting me.

The rest is, as they say, history.

Ever since - when I see something I think would make a nice piece of art - I draw it. When she has an idea that she believes would look good in my particular style --- she drops an email.

It never stops feeling amazing - making art with other artists.

I did not know Amanda Palmer. Your sketch was enough to make me interested, and then I read @bryan-imhoff 's comment that she performed with Neil Gaiman, one of my favorite controversial comic creators. So, I go to youtube and open up the first result I get... and then I GOT SLAPPED IN THE FACE by Runs in the Family!!! What a great song, so powerful and intense and now I can see where the passion in your drawing comes from. You two make a great combination!

This is what I enjoy most about social media --- just by sharing a few positive experiences with an artist I sincerely enjoy --- more folks are turned on to the work of that artist.

This is great! Is it a drawing or did you make a Lino print?

That’s awesome! I’m still getting to know Amanda’s work. The first exposure I had was through the live recordings of her and Neil Gaiman’s shows. They’re such a great combination. Her live Ukulele Song and cover of I Will Follow You Into The Dark really “hit me in the feels,” as they say...

I have that show on double vinyl. I've enjoyed it many times. I'm just a bit of a fan of both those guys, really.
