The social, economical and political situation in my country (Venezuela) has grown for the worse in the recent years. In 2016 I made the very difficult decision to leave my country for a better life for me and my couple. It's hard to go for the hard way because I never wanted to leave my family, my friends and home. I had almost the perfect life, happiness was all about, besides, I wanted to travel all around my country to get to know it all. I never had the chance to visit and witness the Angels Falls, the Tepuys Mountains and The Great Sabana. Eventhought, I truly love beaches, and Venezuela is considered to have the most beautiful beaches on the caribbean I was never able to visit Los Roques. There are many beautiful places in Venezuela that I'd love travel to. I hope. One day.
Angels Falls
I always remember my little hometown, Cabimas, A city located the Oriental Coast of Zulia State. It is where all the Oil Industry began during the 1900s. My father used to tell me stories about when Americans started to settle Oil Companies in our region and how the western culture was a thing in there. The neighborhoods near from the Oil Company offices used to look like in any typical architecture in any US neighborhood. Nowadays everything went down due the dictatorship regime that has been ruling for over 20 years, but I don’t want to get into details, yet.
Every holiday used to be a mayor event in for our families, because we’re one of the most familiar people on the planet. Every Carnival festivities, Easter and specially on Christmas and New Year’s Eve, all families used to gather and enjoy every second of those holidays. I don’t think in these days we could say the same.
Barroso Square, Cabimas (Where the Oil Industry began in that region)
Over the years, all my family and friends have decided to leave the country for their best. I don’t have to many friends in my hometown and I just have my mom, dad and my sister there. I always talk to them and everything they say about the situation is very different from when I was there. That’s why I always want the have the best memories about Cabimas because it would break my heart just to witness how everything has changed. I hope one day I have the possibilities to do my best and help out my people.
Cabimas, Zulia
If I could write all my thoughts about my love for my country and specially, my hometown Cabimas, I would last a lifetime here typing. We used to be happy and we didn’t even know it. That’s a very popular phrase that we, the Venezuelans, use to say each other.
Until the next time. And have a nice day/night
