Google I/O 2018 - Keynote by CEO Sundar Pichai

in artificial-intelligence •  7 years ago

Google I/O festival is held each year. In 2018 it was between May 8 and May 10. So, part of the keynote presentation was given by the current CEO, which is Sundar Pichai.

Side note, Pichai's salary as of 2016 was $199 million. That's unfreaking believable if you ask me.

Anyhow, there are many parts of this presentation that are extremely interesting. My favorite is about a new functionality or feature. Or I guess you could call it a new assistant, Google Duplex.

At a first glance, Google Duplex can make appointments on your behalf. As it was demonstrated, Duplex called to make a haircut appointment. If you didn't know, you could never tell the person working at the hair saloon was talking to AI.

Another nice feature that's about to go live is predictive text or an advanced auto-completion when writing your Gmail emails. Please watch the entire hour and 45 minutes of the presentation to see what it's all about.

Thank you @cristi for sharing this.
Sundar Pichai is a heavy earner and he looks quite not too old. He said that Google Assistant will now make phone calls on our behalf. I can imagine how so cool that will be

Google wants to connect users to businesses in a good way. He also said that Google AI can offer new insights to transform the medical world. Now I am thinking, this is just the beginning of so much more advancement.

Thank you once again
