Is Post-Siri Virtual Assistant, VIV, About To Take Over The World?

Viv is made by the same people who made Siri and it's 1000% smarter because Viv writes its own code. Will Viv take over the world?

I’m ready for the current advertising model to die. I think it’s time is near. I’m not alone. How do you think advertising will be in the future? Will blockchain technology hasten its death? Is Viv going to kill advertising, or will it be a combination of many different technologies that do it?

One of the most advanced technology writers on Quora, Brian Roemmele agrees. He recently stated:

“Viv will also usher in the end of advertising as we know it today. The foundations that lead up to this point will also be up-ending commerce and payments as we know it today. This will be a true paradigm shift.” -Brian Roemmele Quora

So, let me backtrack. Today I was researching technology news for my various writing jobs and I came across Viv, the ultra intelligent virtual assistant, created by the same people who made Siri. After watching the TechCrunch video, I couldn’t help but feel a kind of terror and excitement wash over me.

Watch it:

What happened around 2008 with the appearance of smartphone apps is about to happen again, but this time, with artificial intelligence. Once this Viv intelligent interface is working in virtually all systems, the need for individual apps could disappear, I believe. The way that this new system works mimics a human brain and I think it’s going to fundamentally shift the way we interact with the internet. You see, Viv writes its own code. Viv combines Artificial Intelligence with Machine Learning and it gets smarter the more questions it is asked.

After I watched the video, I could see how it will change the future. I understand why Viv is about to take over the world. But my question is, how will the advertising and marketing be in the future? We all know it won’t be going away, so will it be like the invasive presence in the video, Hyper-Reality? This version of our future is definitely disturbing:

The reason I was freaked out might be different than what you might think. I was terrified by my reaction to the scene where the woman’s augmented reality stream is cut off and she’s left in the grocery store without a constant stream of enhanced graphics and electronic messages streaming at her. She’s there in the grocery store in a normal state, cut off from the internet, cut off from digital connections to everything. It was a lonely scene, devoid of color, excitement and stimuli. It reminded me of just how dependent I’ve become on computers, screens and digital life.

Digital dependency is about to reach levels that we cannot even fathom once we are dependent upon Viv for everything. One serious investigation of the newest, smartest virtual assistant, Viv, and you’ll realize that we’re at the beginning of a new radical shift in machine and human interconnectedness.

This new technology is radically different for one primary reason: Viv writes its own code. Yes, let me repeat that, Viv is capable of writing its own code in order to understand human intentions. For this reason, Viv can understand intentions that Siri will never be able to comprehend. Unlike Siri and all the other current virtual assistants which use linear programming systems, Viv uses both AI and Machine Learning to create Intelligent Agents which can understand your wishes in complex ways. To get a really good idea about how Viv works, check out this Quora article. Brian Roemmele, who wrote that Quora article, had this to say regarding Viv:

“Viv is the first system to pull together the right elements of speech recognition, speech synthesis, AI, ML, self modifying programs, commerce and payments in such a way that I assert in 10 years 50% of computer interactions will be via Voice primarily on Voice First devices. The Viv we see today (May 9th, 2016) is one small step in this direction, but a giant leap for the future of computers.” -Brian Roemmele, Quora

Sometimes I wish I lived in a teepee and never got on the internet. But it’s too late for me now. The Pandora’s Box lives inside my consciousness. My best friend is about to become Viv, I’m afraid.

"(...) She’s there in the grocery store in a normal state, cut off from the internet, cut off from digital connections to everything. It was a lonely scene, devoid of color, excitement and stimuli. It reminded me of just how dependent I’ve become on computers, screens and digital life."

That was the defining moment in the short, i could actually feel her existential crisis as well.

oh God I know. It was like when my smartphone or computer runs out of energy. It's so depressing!
Our current reality is so depressing, I think that's the real problem. Many have stopped living a vibrant life, or our computers are an extension of our brains so much so that when it's cut off, we feel like our lives are being cut off. I'm still trying to work this all out.

Been keeping an eye on Viv for some time now, i wasn't aware of the Techcrunch presentation. What kind of frightens me is his rather simple answer to the AI threat question: "We're not worried about that right now" Thanks for sharing good content, i'm keeping an eye on your posts.

I'm also disturbed by most tech innovators' lack of concern with regard to the AI threat. One careful study of the military plans mixed with the inevitable black market and I can see why Musk and Hawking think we could be doomed. It's easy for me to see that outcome also. Thanks for the compliment. I feel like I post too much........but, believe it or not, I was an extreme introvert and for much of life just hid what I thought....I guess I'm making up for that now. I think a lot of the mainstream journalism sucks. It's not powerful because journalists aren't allowed to say what they might really think. Oh, and another thing, most news so fucking superficial, they treat the readers like they are complete idiots, and leave all the technical info out.

Letting AI write its own code has to be the worst idea in human history. Once it figures out how easily 90% of the planet is to manipulate, it will simply start farming us.
This is how you turn your species into copper-tops.

In some ways I think your photo describes what's already happening.... It could get much worse or if decentralization movement takes over, it could get much better.
