WINDFALL

acrylic on canvas - 50,5 x 71 cm -1986

There was a time in the eighties when my Canadian Galerist asked me if I could paint realistic nature and wildlife scenes. I am a surrealist, but just to prove that I can do it, I obliged and painted a few - later on at least one as a commission for someone else.
This particular painting however I sent to my mother from Canada to Austria as a Christmas present. It shows a tree that was hit by lighting and subsequently fell in the windstorm of the weather event.
I have now inherited this painting after my my mother passed away, and it currently hangs in my apartment in Vienna.

Beautiful! Thanks for sharing your amazing artwork! =)

thanks Jean, it is very old (and so am I, lol)

It looks so much like an opened up person with all of the flesh hanging out.
Even going realistic, you manage to create surreal art!

keen observation - it was only after I painted it that this occurred to me also.

Otto, I really love this. It has a very originality, and besides, strong and delicate. So beautiful. Thank you for sharing!

thank you kindly - one of my older works when I was young and still had patience to paint this way.

Hello! what a nice drawing for sure, the leaf details are even stunning. Thanks for sharing it with us!

thank you - this was decades ago. I don't know if I would have the patience today .....

Dear Artzonian, thanks for using the #ArtzOne hashtag. Your work is valuable to the @ArtzOne community. Quote of the week: Art, freedom and creativity will change society faster than politics. -Victor Pinchuk

thanks a lot!

You can still very much feel the surrealist in this piece, that's for certain. It's like the Pieta on acid, in a good way !
